Too many weaknesses to lightning based moves on almost everyone outside of Pikachu. There are several better electric ones almost all of them besides Pikachu.

If you know they're going to use Thunder then switch out to something ground......... Gyarados is boss he should stay it is prolly one of the better things on his team

Oh it is ok for Gyarados to go out but Charizard being hit by a rock move for 4x weakness is ok too?

Gyarados is a fucking beast, there's no negatives to it unless you don't know how to use it or predict attacks.

yeah thirding the gyrados thing. there's a reason he's been in my team for 4 different games. fucking destroyer of everything. ditch feraligator and get yourself a gabite or salamence, toss lapras for scizor/lucario or another bruiser and you'd be good.

edit: dump the pikachu as well. My personal fav is Luxray, just a huge beast, but there's several decent thunder types that are much better than pikachu.

You can get Magnemite though can't you? I don't remember if you can get Elekid/Electabuzz in HG/SS. Magnezone/Electrevire/Jolteon were always my top choices of electric type.

You can get Electabuzz, but not until you have access to the power plant in Kanto.

I always liked Ampharos cuz of his retardedly high SP Attk.

Also, Meian it seems you got upset when I said bad things about Gyarados, I don't like him, since alot of shit carries a Thunder move, while from what I've seen not many things carry a Rock move.

You have yet to be familiarized with Stealth Rock then.

Learn to switch out to Ground types or a Jolteon/Electrivire.

    Also, Stone Edge.

Edit: If we're talking about the story mode then Rollout too

What about Raichu? Lol. He's always been one of my favorites, but I was never sure of how good he was compared to other Thunder types.

Was mentioned earlier but Raichu is ehh... think it was just below a Pikachu using a Light Ball. Honestly no good really compared to nearly all other electric types unless you really want someone with Encore that is an electric type.

Raichu learns Nasty Plot though. If you make it a Focus Sash user it can be (marginally) useful.

The only problem with Jolteon is needing to breed out certain Hidden Power attributes. He suffers from the same shallow movepool as the other eevee evolutions and really needs it to cover a gap in type coverage.

    Gah. Pikachu. Ow ow ow.

You might want to replace that thing. Find something better to toss Electrics with. Also, you've got a metric shit-ton of Electric-weak Pokemon there, since virtually all of those are either Water or Flying types. In fact, you've got three of each in there, meaning you're easily sweepable. I'd consider replacing the Lapras and Pikachu, at least.

lol think someone asked this prolly less than two pages ago...

Dragonite is still good but it is behind its newer brethren that is Salamence and GARCHOMP

    Some suggestions:

Feraligator and Gyarados: Pick between the two- their optimal move sets are pretty much identical- (Dragon Dance/Ice Fang(Punch)/Earthquake/Waterfall... Crunch if you don't want to waste EQ on Feral').

    Feraligator:
    Grass weakness (x2)
    Electric weakness (x2)
    Lower base Attack (105)
    Lower base Speed (78)

    Gyarados:
    Rock weakness (x2)
    Electric weakness (x4)
    Ground immunity
    Higher base Attack (125)
    Higher base Speed (81)

I'm gonna guess and say the Gyarados is the one you catch from Lake Rage? If this is the case, I would say stick with Feraligator solely because it will have accumulated more EVs over time and will be a good bit stronger than the Gyarados when set up propperly.

Assuming you drop Gyarados, I would suguest picking up a Psychic Pokemon in the form of Espeon or Alakazam. These guys (especially Ala) just tear through everything. Your choice, but Ala is preferred to go along with my next suggestion.....

Pikachu is what we call a practice girl... It's kinda cute... and yeah... it gets Volt Tackle... buuuuut.... yeah... Get yourself a Magneton, Jolteon, or an Ampheros. Magneton is a nice pseudowall due to the dual typing and has epic SpAtk, Jolteon's immunity to Electric attacks is awesome and its speed is top notch, but it has a very shallow move pool that relies on Hidden Power and move tutors to make any good use out of it though. Ampheros has really good special attack as well, but its slower than me trying to learn math (see: I'm in college and I still can't do algebra). I say go with Jolteon or Magneton. Magneton's final form is an awesome Pokemon in its own right, but Jolteon's speed is great if you are able to get a good Hidden Power.

Lapras is an ok Pokemon, however with Rock, Electric, Fighting, AND Grass weaknesses, I'm not a big fan of it. Granted it has pretty high HP, but its defenses are actually WORSE than that of Gyarados'. So, I say dump it and pick up a Grass type. Its Thursday in 30 min for me, so I say go do the Bug Catching contest and try to get yourself a Sunstone, and evolve a Bellossom- at 53 it learns the epic move, Leaf Storm, which is really nice for revenge kills- Also, if you set up Sunny Day, in addition to your speed bonus via Chlorophyll, your Charizards damage will shoot through the roof. Having access to both Sleep Powder and Stun Spore is quite nice too. Very good support Pokemon.

Ho-oh and Charizard have the same weaknesses, but it comes down to one thing: do you want to be lame and use legendary Pokemon ? I kid I kid- but seriously, I say ditch Ho-oh and you get a Ground type. I LOVE Donphan ^_^ They make me all warm and fuzzy. Good HP, Atk and Defense with Earthquake STAB and access to Rapid Spin and Knock Off? Fuck yeah...

    tldr:
    Final team suguestion
    Feraligator
    Alakazam/Espeon
    Magneton/Jolteon
    Bellossom/support job filler
    Charizard
    Donphan or other ground type

Damnit. sorry to keep chiming in, but you people keep making good points

going to echo the above sentiment and say get an allakhazam. He fucking DESTROYS. I use him with psychic/shadow ball/light screen/recover and he's damn near unbeatable. Only caution is his HP sucks ass. I had to pump him with a ton of HP UP meds to make him last.
