I uh, wow. I played Platinum enough to get a decent team, traded em to my friend and restarted then gave up lol. Kind of thought I was done with pokemon. GS was my favorite as well(FUCK YEAR STEELIX), and with the more areas, even Hoenn, alls I gotta say is fuck yeah.

I'm still curious as to how they are going to handle all 4 areas seeing as how you will probably have your pokemon at 50-70 by the time you step into the second area. : p

It's starting to look more like 3 areas then 4. I think they wanted the Hoenn (rusa) areas on DS since the DSi is killing advance support.

Three areas, four... it's exciting all the same. Hopefully they won't leave out more disjointed areas such as the Sevii Islands.

I'm also curious as to how they'll handle level distribution. Probably a method of storyline progression, taking you to each region in a specific order, much like it works in current games. I'm also curious as to how the varying villainous gangs will be represented in each region, if they are represented at all.

Hopefully they don't do what they did in the TV show and make you leave all your Pokemon behind and start again when you move to a new area.

If there are going to be multiple areas will there be multiple E4 battles then or will they just have the original one that's at the indigo plateau?

It would be interesting. It seems fair to say there are multiple E4's as well. Though I personally think the game would get kind of bland after doing the same thing 3 times. (beating 8 gyms, E4, rinse and repeat) Hopefully they spice things up and change a lot of the game itself to make it seem new.

I don't think of it as bland. All Elite Four teams are not created equal. I distinctly recall having a tougher time with the R/B/Y/FR/LG Elite Four than I did with any of the others. Hoenn Elite Four as been a distant second, and G/S/C Elite Four has been the easiest, in my experience.

But I digress. Regardless of which you think is the most difficult, what I mean to say is each does have their own feel to them, and as such, I don't think challenging multiple Elite Four teams would become stale.

Didn't want to make a new topic for this, since details are still scarce, but GameFreak has announced they are making a new Pokemon game for the DS for release in 2010. An upcoming Pokemon Movie and the press release for the game hints at new Pokemon, so I believe we might be looking at the Fifth Generation of Pokemon games here.
