Video Encoding apps / settings question

    Hi Guys,

I have been using Fraps to record videos of my linkshell's events and I typically encode them on my Mac using VisualHub to make it a MP4 with H.264 Encoding. I have been able to get file size down from the uncompressed 11.5GB Fraps Video to a half resolution (that still looks good and readable) file that just sneaks in under 500MB.

Then i see some of the Avesta videos such as this one
    Avesta Solo Suzaku @ zoome.jp

and the quality is ridiculously great... to that end can anyone tell me is there another app I should use besides Fraps to record? What app should I be using to encode and what kind of settings to achieve this kind of result?

    Thanks in advance!

Handbrake has some quality settings if you're using a mac to encode your videos.

Apple TV for HD, which is a good setting for HD videos being uploaded to Youtube. Movie quality for everything else you might need.

I looked at Handbrake and it is only for DVD Sources, says the AVI is not a valid source

*loads up handbrake...opens an .avi as source...works* Wat? It is most definitely not only for DVD sources, I use it all the time.

A lot of encoding is in the actual settings and not the program, I recommend looking up some guides, you're not gonna get the file size really small(like that avesta video seems to be over 500meg, just because it's in a flash player doesn't mean it's small).
