I've probably played this more then any other game in history. Junior year of high school I was starting a new game and beating it 2 times a week.

And Vandal Hearts series is the shit, 2nd is one of my favorite PS1 games evar.

Ok so since I am apparently the only person in the known universe who plays 3rd party Wii games, here are some great ones:

Boy and His Blob - Starts off a little easy but quickly becomes a fantastic 2D puzzle/adventure game. All of the concept of the original NES classic with none of the frustration. Beyond cute and charming, see sig.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Not really an RPG, not really a FF game, and barely a FFCC game... more like a zelda/okami-like action adventure set in the FFCC universe. The motion controls take a little getting used to but it has gorgeous graphics, a huge open world with no load times, great music, and loads of content to see (including 330 in-game achievements).

Dead Space Extraction - IMO the best light gun game on Wii. Dead Space fans owe it to themselves to play this, as it has a great story, fantastic voice work, and despite a somewhat short length is a great entry in the Dead Space universe. Only sold like 10k copies, but will be remade for the PS3 when DS2 is released.

Cursed Mountain - Survival horror with buddhist themes. You play (no joke) a scottish mountain climber in 1980's Nepal who has to exorcise buddhist ghosts using the power of an enchanted ice pick. Motion controls get a little wonky but the story is really dark and the overall mood is great.

Fragile Dreams - Not really survival horror, more like survival anime. The overall mood of this game is great, as is the voice work (the English voice work being suprisingly good, but I'd play it in Japanese) and music. If you like exploring/collecting it's a lot of fun, but some annoying combat and breakable weapons may cause some rage moments.

Munchables - A somewhat short katamari-like game. You eat alien vegetables to get bigger, which lets you eat bigger alien vegetable monsters and explore new areas. At the end of the stage you poo out marbles and that's your score. Lots of fun, also has collectable wearable items just like Katamari.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - No combat, no gore, and instead of a bloody nightmare world everything is covered in ice. Still, lots to collect, and a really great cell phone mechanic using light/cameras to solve puzzles(you can even dial any number you see on signs in-game). Despite the departure from the norm it has one of the most disturbing stories (psychologically) of the series.

Dawn of Discovery - Amazingly well done economic/kingdom building sim. If you like micromanagement you'll be right at home here, the story mode is like one long tutorial so it's definitely worth running through. Damn aristocrats can never get enough fucking garments, but it's unbelievably addictive.

Escape from Bug Island - Shitty graphics, horrible gameplay, but it's so cheesy you wonder if it's not intentional, like Deadly Premonition. If you can make it through the ridiculously stupid fights (using a twig to whack hundreds of 1 foot cockroaches, for example) you will probably find the horrendous voice acting and dialogue hilariously funny.

Lit - A great little puzzle adventure Wiiware title. Make it from point A to point B in a dark classroom, if you stray out of the light you die. You can use lamps, TVs, computers, and slingshot windows to make paths for yourself. There are a few annoying boss fights and it gets somewhat challenging in later stages but it's really satisfying when you finally figure things out.

Max & the Magic Marker - Something along the lines of Okami/Scribblenauts in a 2D platformer. Use your magic marker to make bridges/steps for max to get to the end of the stage while avoiding/crushing enemies, pretty simple but lots of fun.

I had a list of a few other games I really like for Wii but I won't bother listing them because they're actually pretty popular (things like Rune Factory/Endless Ocean 2). If anyone wants some recommendations they can send me a PM, I guess.

Companies other then Capcom (TvC, Monster Hunter 3) make 3rd party games for the Wii?

haha yeah, I have spent quite a lot of time sifting through the crap to find the hidden gems. There are about 20 or so really good 3rd party titles for wii, the only thing I think it really lacks at this point are turn-based RPGs (excluding FFIV After Years), but hopefully Arc Rise Fantasia will fix that in about a month.

Some good ones: De Blob, Endless Ocean 1/2, Little King's Story, Muramasa, Rune Factory Frontier, Fatal Frame 4 (fan translation), Deadly Creatures, Disaster: Day of Crisis, House of the Dead Overkill, Elebits, and Trauma Team, in addition to the ones I mentioned above.

Capcom does have some great titles though, like Monster Hunter 3, RE4 and Okami remakes (RE4 with motion controls is amazing), and even Zack & Wiki is pretty good.

Muramasa is amazing. mediocre storytelling, repetitive gameplay, and I still loved the hell out of it because the visuals were that good and the combat was fantastic.

No one ever seemed to talk about this game even though it got pretty good reviews. I thought it was perfect- interesting powers, challenging, a gritty, gripping story, and a just long enough single player campaign to keep me satisfied. I never read the comics but apparently this is a rare adaptation that is actually far better than the original.

No one seemed to like this one, but it's probably the fighting game I've put the most hours into. Awesome sound track, character design with a better track record than post-SF Alpha Capcom, a really fun normal -> special -> super -> super -> super combo system, and a training mode that was far ahead of its time. Too bad you can't really say the same for the terrible sequels EX2 and EX3.
