I've found a similar problem. Read Uncanny X-Force which he was in, but read that more for the X-Men aspect.
I've heard Deadpool: Sins of the Past, Deadpool & Cable, Daniel Way's Deadpool are some good reads. Will likely start reading those after I finish Uncanny Avengers.
EDIT: Deadpool (1997) is also supposed to be one of the best, if not the best, run. Written by Joe Kelly.
If you want some downright awesome Deadpool action, find Amazing Spider-Man 611 written by Joe Kelly. Besides the sweet story, it gave the world this cover.

I haven't really read Deadpool either.
Thanks peeps, I'll take a look / see what I can pirate.
I thought that run was pretty bad except for the Dark Avengers Bullseye issues, but I'm not a fan of "lolsorandom!" humor. The Duggan run is good though, and I'll co-sign on the Kelly run being the defining take on Deadpool. The Hawkeye/Deadpool mini was really fun too.
Way's run had some really good moments and some really bad ones. I remember a lot of arcs thinking they were dumb while they were happening, then enjoying them more once the arc ended and I was like "oh, that is what he was going for."
Deadpool is pretty funny in Civil War also the few episodes that intertwine with it. I'm reading all of Civil war now(prep work for next year obvi) and it's great.
Cable and Deadpool is one of my absolute fav runs. It is just wonderful imo
Offtopic: What's the next big storyarc after World War Hulk?
I absolutely LOVE Cable and Deadpool together, they are a perfect team. The Deadpool v Hawkeye 4 parter was really cool as far as newer stuff that is standalone. I enjoyed the Art of War mini they did as well.
Anyone here reading the convergence stuff? I just powered through all the Future's End books...'round 50 issues or so and the first two Convergence titles and all the related tie-ins...a bit too burnt out to know how I'll feel once I digest them more...but it feels so disjointed to me.
Ryan's Deadpool Twittering keeps coming up with stuff like this:
(Yes, I know it's fanmade. He put it up on Twitter anyway, because Rule of Cool.)
I'll add in Deadpool: The Art of War for a nice trade-sized read.
lol...forgot I was in this thread when I wrote that as we were discussing comic runs.

Rob Liefeld discusses the tone of the film:
Deadpool’s pretty hardcore; it’s pretty awesome. When I first read it, I thought ‘This is the voice of Tarantino in a comic book movie,’ which is perfect because Deadpool is more crime-oriented, action-oriented, obviously, and Tarantino has got a great sense of humor.
