Do you think Hand-to-hand weapons should allow Grips?

For awhile now, a few other people on vent and I always wondered.

Why doesn't Hand-to-hand weapons have the option to use Grips? Do you think its about time SE implemented this? Or would it be too unbalanced?

Job specific grip-tape, or just be simple and use existing grips to be allowed in the sub-slot.

I mean you can't put a grip on gloves since you wear them instead of holding them.

Edit: I doubt it would have a great impact on damage anyways, but it's nothing to get angry about.

DblAtk +2%/Crit+ would be really nice to add to current builds. But yeah, noones angry. Just wondering what the overall opinion is of it.

The first thought that came to mind was the Platinum Grip +1, acc+3 and stun. That would be something, depending on the stun proc. Grips are cool but I think they were introduced to give 2-handers (scythe, polearm, etc. - I don't regard H2H as a two-handed weapon, it's one-handed on each hand) an advantage. Voted "no" on this one.

Edit: Oooh, forgot about manoples with -25% delay augment and sword strap (total -28% delay). From what I've read it's = or + than destroyers? The additional 3% would push it further.

I'd really like to see Monk (and Ninja/Thief/1h'ers in general) get some sort of boost.

Agreed. I don't think grips are the way to go about it, but I think they need -something-

    Yes.
I mean, why should MNK be the only job that's shafted without a sub weapon?

stun is low. other wiki says 5%(and my guess is thats about right) it is not bad but i could see that adding a lot to monk. that means you have a 10% shot and like 15% with faith(b/c 2x attack is not rare at all with it)* (b/c you attack with both hands)

also would it count on say kick attacks as well?

so a 1/10 shot to stun(might sound sorta broken with BB monks though ~_~)

What monks need is somthing to help them hold there own vs high defense mobs, i'd like to start with that, so when asking to go mnk to say..a HNM or anything high level you don't get laughed at and told to change to sam. cause just being good for salvage and merits PTS isn't cutting it.

The part of the knuckles you grip? These are wraps, after all. It isn't meant to imply that 2H grip users are holding onto a spool of material in one hand, while swinging their weapons around single-handedly with the other.

i still think the stun grip would need to be gimped for monks.

no down side at all and a 15% stun rate with faith seems a bit much

kohan the same could be said about 1 hand weps then too no?
reason monks dont have it is that they are a 1 hand wep* based off the in game. their str/dex is not based off 2handers.

    What?

If you're just talking about the real life functionality of wraps, then of course, but I was simply answering the silly question of "where does it go?". It's just nerdy semantics.

As I mentioned, there could be a slew of MNK-only grips. If they wanted to be technical. Kinda like how White/Brown/Purple/Blackbelt is MNK only. etc. Its really not a complex system, and fills a slot that never gets used & could be more beneficial to the class.

edit: also I'm not just referring to MNK as in a whole. But many other clases could benefit it.

Because it is the only weapon class where each item is in fact a pair? They are plural names for a reason.

So why do NINs get dual mamushitos +1s if stun is so overpowered?
None of the grips will overpower a MNK at this point.

That may be a logical reason, but not everything needs to be logical. Plus having a pair means there's no choice in stat bonuses, which is a benefit everyone has except MNKs thus grips for MNKs please.

i knew someone would say that! HAHA. however you have to then think about the fact you lose tones of DoT. monk with plat grip would keep their dot add acc(although little) and have a added 15% stun rate(with faith 10% with anything else)
