My mom was lax to the point of hilarity when it came to sex, lol. She trusted my judgment, so I never really got any "be safe" talk when she knew about my first boyfriend I slept with (age 16/17 thereabouts); it was just implied. Instead I got "I hope he's not bad in bed." LOL

Other than that there was never really a talk, but it was a very open thing around the house and no one tried to hid the fact that they were doing it. By 15 there were open talks at dinner about how everyone's sex life is going at the moment.

I had the same situation. I was not allowed to date until I was like 16 1/2 (doesnt mean i didnt do it behind their back though. ). My dad didn't give a shit about it, but my mom would freak if there was even a chance that i could get into something like that..

My mom told me I wasn't allowed to have a honey (g/f) until i was some age, i don't remember 16 or 18, so she bought me a jar of honey and told me that's the only honey I'm allowed to have. Of course it was only a joke, and she's never been over-protective about me and sex. She had a little bit of a crazy moment when she found a condom wrapper on the floor.

I don't think my dad knows yet, but he's probably just assuming, he's actually the more conservative one about it.

My Dad was too promiscuous and my mom was too conservative to consider giving the talk, so I heard it from my grand parents. My grandma is kind of vulgar so she was the one that gave the the talk, here's some famous quotes:

I was scarred for life and never started having sex until I was 17. I don't even talk about it with anyone in my family. Everyone thought I was "one of dem' gays" until I invited my wife for thanksgiving.

We've had random talks about sex over the years but nothing that could ever be considered "the talk" or anything. My mom pretty much freaked when she walked in on me, but she got over it after a few weeks. I think it's good to have parents in the middle of strict and lax when it comes to sex.

Um, yes. There are genetic precursors that would eventually (unless they are mentally impaired) lead to them having sex. Pheromones, nerve senses - they wouldn't know about sex or how to have it but they would eventually discover it.

I never got the talk either but I learnt how to read when I was like three or four, I don't know exactly since I can't remember actually learning how to read and my parents didn't realize till I was five and went to an afternoon club with other kids- they had always just assumed I was looking at pictures when going through books. But yeh, my mum had this book about parenting and pregnancy that I read from cover to cover so that pretty much explained everything. Then later on they start to teach you about STDs and condoms and all that in last year of primary school when you're 12 in Finland and hammer that crap into your head year after year through lower secondary school. Of course with me being the eldest all this was passed onto my younger siblings as I learnt it. Plus I guess my parents trusted their kids would have common sense and if we ever did ask anything we always got straight answers but I don't remember us ever having to ask much - the information we wanted was so readily available elsewhere.

My sis brought her first boyfriend home when she was a month short of 15 and we were pretty much free to do as we pleased in general as long as mum and dad knew exactly where we were and when we'd be home. Having said that, when I was about 8 or 9 I happened to be watching TV when a documentary came on, I forget what it was even about but they showed a woman giving birth in it. Like properly, not like in movies and my mum walked in and started randomly talking about what was happening and what having kids is like and I was too much in panic to change the channel. End result I didn't even think of having a boyfriend till I was 19, not because I wasn't a horny teenager but because I was utterly terrified of the chance of getting pregnant even if it is only 0.0001% or whatever with proper contraception and took me till 30 to have a baby of my own. It was the most horrifying thing I ever saw on TV as a child. Protip to all the dads out there who want to make sure their daughters behave I guess, gets rid of any rosy images they might have.

I never really got "the talk" asides from my mum saying "for heavens' sake use a condom." "STDS are bad" and "insert this into here for happy fun-time" were obtained at school. Hurray for secular education.

So I was like 17 and my girlfriend and I were home alone, needless to say we went at it like rabbits. My family got back and we heard the car on the drive. Clothes were pulled on, "innocent" faces were pulled. We had dinner. All fine and dandy.

Except I got dressed so quick that I left the condom on my wang. As I got up from the sofa about twenty minutes later it fell out the end of my trouser leg. With my mother in the room.

Red faces all round. All my mother said was "well, that's reassuring."

Never got the talk and was smart enough to keep safe. I did have a few times where I did it without a condom and I look back at it and thank god that both of my partners were clean and that I didn't knock them up.
