Tinea versicolor is a common condition. It is estimated that 2 to 8% of the population of the United States has it. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. It is thought that the yeast feeds on skin oils (lipids) as well as dead skin cells. Infections are more common in people who have seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, and hyperhidrosis[10].
I don't have any of the things in the last sentence. It's looks sort of like this except the patches are only around my neck, are brown like lightly tanned skin, and aren't spotted or patchy:

I have no clue what you said, but it's probably true. It would still be a good time.

It doesn't itch at all. It's just discoloured. I'll take a picture tonight.

I know a ton of people in my home town with discolored skin blotches like that, I always thought it was the disease Michael Jackson claimed he had because the only people I ever saw affected by it were Puerto Rican or black.

What are you treating it with?

First thing I thought of when I saw that was what skin looks like after you get sunburned after the burned parts flake off, and the tan part just stays.

I've got a 1% Lamisil cream that the doctor gave me. Apparently, it's a very common infection.

That's vitiligo, but tinea versicolor actually does tend to actually lighten skin in people with darker skin tones.

Mine is on my neck but the color difference in the skin isn't that noticeable, you can really only see it after a hot shower, other wise it's just slightly different tone. I been thinking I had skin cancer for a while now.

Pale, dark tan, or pink in color, with a reddish undertone that can darken when the patient is overheated, such as in a hot shower or during/after exercise
I wasn't that worried about mine, but I went to the doctor to get it checked out just in case.

My friend got skin cancer when he was 16. He got really burned one summer at soccer camp, got some sort of skin tumor on his neck and had to get it removed.

One burn was all it took, too. Pretty scary.

I don't like going to doctors, I'll probably die of something because I didn't want to go to the doctor. Anyways, will something like tough actin tinactin take care of it?

I got a sunburn on my back last year at the beach, and I still have the tan marks there now. Keep in mind this was back in August and it's May now, I think I'm dying.

You could try some sort of antifungal cream or maybe even Selsun Blue/Head and Shoulders.

I was at the doctor's already. I wouldn't make an appointment for this alone.

Discoloured patches on my neck are the fungus. Honestly, I would never have guessed it was fungal.
