    Tachi:Rana WS gear.

    I know rana is a multi hit, and i thought, wouldnt adding some ACC other then STR help out dmg some?

    So i came to an idea to post/ask here.
    What would be the best WS gear for rana. and should i mix in a lil ACC?
    Maybe a Toreador's Ring (Accuracy+7) other then flame? Atm working with total STR WS gear just like normal.
    Just speculating.

    with enough attack buffs and/or defense debuffs, rana is actually pretty good.

    At least it's my WS of choice for SV'd ANNM runs

    I run a mix of ATK and ACC for rana

    Here is my .txt

    Could be better, but it's not nearly used as much as YGK for me to really give a damn :/

    There's a lot of ways to go about it, I use this, it's a nice combination of STR,DEX,ACC, and Attack, so I can get nice numbers on Puks, and not miss the harder shit either.

    not really useful damage wise due to the existance of gekko

    but yea, acc should be better to land hits and have decent damage since your gotta use it to open SC anyway

    I don't really understand the "it sucks, just wear whatever" sentiment. If you're gonna be using it for SCing anyway, might as well make it do as much damage as possible. It's not as good as gekko, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

    I agree with this. Yes, it is almost always used as a SC opener, but it doesn't do completely ass-awful damage, and there's no reason *not* to do as much as you can with it.

    I'll admit... I'm often lazy (especially in things like early-to-middle floors of Salvage where nothing is particularly evasive anyway) and just use my regular Gekko set, but certainly not all the time.

    Haven't done that much controlled testing of Att's effects on damage, but I tend to stack Acc, STR, and Att, and get the most of those three out of a slot that I can with the gear I have. My setup is fairly similar to Zilong's, but with Usu head, Haub +1, Fowling Earring (in place of Ethereal), and Enkidu's mittens.

    Yeah, because it's really hard to land one hit of a 3-hit ws with a A+ 2handed weapon for a skillchain right?

    I think the reason people think so poorly of rana is they never bother to take off hagun. Onimaru + rana is better than hagun + gekko on low def/eva stuff.

    I am beginning to suspect that the new WS's have 2.5 or 3.0 procs like the old relics do. I am going to do some testing on that.

    Yes there is definitely something fishy with them from my experience - I don't recall any difference between the TP Returns of 2k Ranas and the ~1k ones, same for my experience with Insurgency and a couple of others.

    Old relics don't have the 2.5 - 3.0 procs on the relic WS though

    gekko no, kaiten yes, lol. :D (but not that often i guess)

    but those are mostly on puks. if you can have the attack to pump it out, its a ridiculous WS. ask kell what his highs/lows are, and youll see for yourself. you are capable of doing similar numbers like that on mamools.

    Yea Kaiten is definitely in a different category as far as xp goes, 2200 on Puks, 2k+ on Mamool. I have pretty much maxed out GK WS gear for the big 3 and Kaiten, so I know what they are capable of, was just pointing out that Rana can definitely be more than just a Skillchain opener >:0

    glad to see kaiten is still going strong :D

    yeah, i always had respect for that WS. in the right hands it can be deadly as hell, lol. the only time i ever came close doing 2k gekko aftrer the 3 nerfs was with the AV GKT and 300 TP with DA. i had no songs or dia, but gdi i was so close. i posted the SS around here somewhere <_>;

    I've noticed this with King's Justice, it randomly spikes to 2k while keeping the TP return of the average 1k. I've also noticed my King's Justice damage is better on Mamools than on birds.

    Yeah, was talking with Ring bout it yesterday and it seems like the only logical conclusion to come to that the mythic ws's have some type of 2x or 3x proc thing goin with em.

    I've found that Tachi: Gekko dmg easily caps out on mobs like Puks and anything under T.

    While killing random stuff (ACP, farming mobs, etc), my Gekko sits at like 900~ where as Rana can hit 1.2~1.5 the majority of the time. I was thinking of picking up an Onimaru for just those situations but for some reason (partially my fault) onimaru is sitting at like 150k now.

    It's still awesome that Jinpu rapes them both when you are dealing with much lower level things haha. Hai2u 3k Jinpus.

    The highest I've seen Jinpu do is like 9k but that was on Chigoes in Bhaflau Remnants. Other than that, 1.5k-ish isn't too horribly uncommon.
