This is totally lolworthy. I was having this conversation last night with my girlfriend... it's funny how every organism on the planet lives as it was designed and yet humans are the only ones who do everything possible to ignore their humanity.
I love religion and all, but I'm beginning to feel more like it's a crutch people lean on in order to try and achieve a state of perfection that isn't really obtainable. Maybe they should start teaching people to just be good to each other instead of writing 300 rules on what 'good' is.
I was raised Catholic but these revelations came recently in situations with both the stepmother and my girlfriend's mother, both of whom are religious. There are other things that contribute as well, like news stories that I read from time to time.
I'm just getting sick of people claiming religion stands for so much good when it's becoming increasingly clear that the idea of religion is what stands for it while the (increasing) majority of people are not.
Like I always say, you can be good without religion and all the associated dogma. Why the baggage? You don't need jesus to tell you that murdering your neighbor is immoral and criminal. There are too many people who claim that they are christian and catholic don't remember their last time in church.
inb4 Jones.
That priest got booted because he is Cuban, not cause he was messing around with a women. LOL
while I am not trying to defend it, isn't the whole celibacy thing supposed to be about getting rid of distractions, not because sex/marriage are evil?
I wasn't saying its right but isn't devotion to something (even if its lolreligion) slightly more noble than omgsexisevil?
"Father Cutie" is right. I'd hit it.
Edit: Actually, nah. Wouldn't.![]()
He's always been criticized for his "liberal" views. Here he is: YouTube - Escándalo: El padre Alberto es fotografiado con una mujer
I'll translate a few things he said.
About celibacy:
"God is the only one that can judge that, because it's a delicate subject. But in the end, I think people will understand a priest who has a weakness for a woman. However, the majority of our people will not accept a homosexual priest. I think every individual... our lord is the only one that can judge us, the heart of every individual. One of the first things the canonic right says is that in order to be a priest, a man has to be normal. Normal is being healthy and be able to have a family."
