Fatal Error screen

I'm having problems with my PC that sometimes out of nowhere it crashes and the blue screen appears, the problem is the screen stays for a few seconds before the PC restarts, my question is... Is there a way to stop that blue screen from auto restart? i want to know what's the real problem with the PC because sometimes it doesnt want to load up after it.Forgot to add i'm using Window Vista.

If you can get to the point where you can load the Windows startup options (Usually by pressing F8 right after BIOS posts) there is an option to not automatically reboot on fail. If you can load Windows, go to System > Properties > Advanced > Startup/Recovery > Settings > System Failure > uncheck Automatically Restart.


If this doesn't work for you, and the crash occurs at a regular interval, just get out your digital camcorder (or equivalent), tape the event, and then use the step function to see what the error is. Can't tell you how many times I've done that whilst deployed, which severely limits my troubleshooting abilities obviously, on broken computers.
