so your other gear or possibly engaging faster outparsed other people not the ridill
Have any links or Number on the EXP with Ridill vs the GA as well as the M. kris on HNM zergs? I'd like to take a look.

Even then you can get misleading results from variables like Overwhelm, Hasso, Dia on or off, bard too busy pulling to put up minuets right away, berserk timer merits, fluctuating mob level/defense/evasion/vit, obfuscate/wind wall/warm up/diamond hide, etc. etc.

But at least you beat whatshisface

I say it is time to just let you merit all weapons to 8/8. It's not like things would be that broken. It's not like you are hot-swapping weapon types in and out during a battle. Losing all your tp takes care of that already anyway.

No because that's not the two items in question at play, that's a number of external factors that are influencing the comparison.

So it's the best GA players only that you want to be talking about then? But shouldn't you then compare them to the best Ridill players only? As Sonoma said, Ridill builds are extremely specific. If you don't want to include all the GA scrubs, then you need to exclude the Ridills who aren't up to par either. Should be ideal vs. ideal in order to remain neutral.

And based on that, I hardly think GA decisively "outclasses" Ridill. Good GA players are very competitive, and sometimes even beat Ridills, but they hardly outclass... I see a 60-70% trend towards the Ridill players.
You' aren't making an argument for Ridill, you are making an argument for particular players. All things being equal, an optimal Gaxe build will beat an optimal Ridill build. Math > opinion.

Gaxe does outclass on some events, but my old Nyzul group was made of adaberk Ridill wars with great gear and sets. Of course they GA'd the bosses, but 2 ridill war/nin's can really wreck a kill all nyzul floor. I know, lol nyzul. And lolbirds and other things where it's awesome. It just comes down to the old cliched phrase....

    Shit's situational.

    It's funny because it's true.

And if we were to follow that guy's "lol@parsing" post, then obviously I'm the best damage dealer in FFXI because I can do the same damage as a regular melee and be completely self sufficient and heal my party as well! RIGHT!?!?!?

I've had some good results from ridill, too. Despite popular belief, it is actually a pretty good weapon. I've never once seen someone turn it down or not get excited about getting one, either.

As for its use, I've found it's one of the best swords for TP gain and has one of the highest base damages in it's class. I have no trouble keeping up with GA WARs, either, and when I switch to GA myself, I don't see GA being any better. Especially in a situation you want to spam TP.

Believe it or not, ridill is actually a good weapon worth owning, and is not subpar. I think that anyone who uses the word subpar to describe ridill is just trying to make excuses why they shouldn't feel bad they haven't got one yet. However, I will agree having one isn't necessary anymore and people won't consider you gimp for using a GA build instead of a ridill one. But it's far from "subpar".

As for being in unfair LSs, that's your own LSs fault, not how LSs work in general. Join an equitable LS if all the good stuff only goes to leaders or claimers, providing that they aren't coincidentally the ones with the most points because they go to all the events and are always online. In that case, that is indeed fair. People who play more will always get more stuff than you, and there's not really anything that can be done about that.

As a ridill owner: Ridill is subpar and you are wrong. Make your Gaxe gear not suck.

Yeah, advaranauts, most of the aquarian set, most of the earthen set, most of the martial set, sipar, thundercloud, and d.feet are generally above average gear.

Point is most of the stuff kings drop is crap, and anything with actual worth has been replaced or matched by gear from other sources with the exception of a few pieces that never drop anyway

LOL at all the ridill bashing.

While its not as game breaking as before it still has its uses (nyzul, salvage, limbus, city dynamis, farming as thf etc).

Its still pretty useful to war/nin compared to a gaxe war/nin (in situations where its better to sj nin compared to sam)

Arthars stop lying about the ridill and REALLY put it in storage please instead of using it on rng.

That wasn't the statement that set it off, bro.

"Stop camping kings for subpar drops."

That's the bullshit of the year. That there are bad drops on Faf's loot table does not make it the reason people camp kings. Crap drops in Dynamis/Salvage/Ein/Limbus/everywhere. And if the low drop rates on situational gear were somehow a disincentive to do anything, then you could blanket every FFXI endgame event with that argument.

Which leaves the 'hurr I say things to rile people up' reason to spew this into Advanced. And lately that's kind of stupid.

I think people who make a case for ridill are trying to make excuses for having toiled over an item that's by the most generous estimation no better than what you can buy with imperial standing. There are lots of items in the game that look cool, have unusual and awesome stats, are coveted and rare as fuck, but suck anyway compared to readily available crap. See: 2005 Shinsoku, Dreizack and Kriegsbeil prices.
