honestly coffee i make at home is a thousand percent different from coffee i get at any chain, even if it's not fresh by the time i buy it off the shelf. starbucks and mcdonald's coffee always has some weird burned/bitter taste to it that makes it completely unpalatable. no amount of sugar and milk can cover it up, either. borrow someone's coffee maker, get one of those really small sample size bags, and try brewing some at home. it's better than anything you can buy. with a little cream/milk/nondairy creamer and a teaspoon or so of sugar depending on how sweet your milk or creamer is, it ends up tasting like a richer tea rather than a bag of smashed assholes.
