Colin Powell honoring graduates in the UAE

    Source

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday presented certificates to 400 students comprising the 12th batch of graduates from the American University in Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammad congratulated the graduates and urged them to pursue higher education. As a key speaker, former US Secretary of State Colin Powell expressed delight at visiting the UAE and meeting Sheikh Mohammad. "Although the US is a great nation that learns from its past mistakes, it is a nation which always seeks development and tries to be in a better place and a more advanced position on the world map," Powell said.
Referring to the UAE's wise leadership, Powell said the country is striving towards progress and development in all walks of life, keeping pace with modernity and fulfilling the requirements of the age.
Recalling his visit to Dubai Healthcare City two years ago, Powell described the city as a sophisticated place that aims to provide advanced healthcare and treatment to people.
Paying tribute to the Vice-President and his bold initiatives and wise vision, Powell said: "Sheikh Mohammad always looks forward with optimism to a promising future of his nation and citizens."
"It was difficult for the American people to identify the UAE and its location, especially Dubai, on the map. But now, the UAE position is firmly established in our minds, after I saw landmark structures, such as Burj Al Arab, the Palm Jumeirah Island and World Islands," he said.
Referring to Dubai's leading position, Powell said the emirate is now "on a par with New York, London and Paris".
He also praised the humanitarian and charitable campaigns launched by the wise leadership to help people around the world realise the concept of wealth-sharing and achieve social equality among peoples in various communities, especially the poor. – Emirates News Agency, WAM

In the speech, he mentioned Gulf War I and how the US saved us from a threat from Iraq. I felt like throwing my shoe at him

but anyways, lots of ass kissing, and boasting and all in between.

but in seriousness colin powell is one of the few people in politics of the last few decades that i have a lot of respect for, and i think he feels like he needs to kiss ass in other parts of the world because his ass kissing actually means something (not much, but doesn't mean nothing i'd say)

eh is cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything

Remember that time Colin Powell used a British's student's homework as proof that Sadam had nuclear weapons? Yea, that was great.

I don't recall if it was American or British, but yes, he used a student's thesis to defend the cause for war against Iraq. The British media was aghast, while the American media was saying things like: "A compelling argument for war".

    It was embarrassing.
