    I'm sorry Yugl, I'm not following exactly, (sorry if its obvious I feel bad for not being able to understand it), do I need to look for the include file in my current XML, and then make sure that I have a matching named include?

    Currently with Mortentens Mnk taken straight from pastebin from the other topic on the forum, I have an include named mote-config-include and its in XML format.

    Also when I try and load it now I get parsing error line 0 failed to open the file.

    I also have every other include from his pastebin, in the spellcast folder named as they are in the paste bin.

    Anyway sorry to be a nuisance I just really enjoy playing on PC since I switched from xbox and want to be able to understand how I can work this out.

    Edit: I think it might be fixed, I realised I hadn't downloaded the salvage link (forgot to change the file type from .txt to .xml) and it has allowed my spellcast to load now, so I'm guessing it will function fine now.

    I was under the impression you wished to remove includes and use the rules directly. If they work though, they work lol.

    @Scottyb:

    Simple, direct instructions:


    In the windower\plugins\spellcast folder, create a folder named as your character name (eg: for me, it's windower\plugins\spellcast\motenten). This is where you're going to save all your xmls.

    If you're using my mnk xml, copy the mnk r3 from my pastebin into a file named "mnk.xml".

    Copy the associated inclues (these are listed in the readme as well):

    Mote-Config-Include r3 gets saved as "Mote-Config-Include.xml"
    Mote-Rules-Include r3 gets saved as "Mote-Rules-Include.xml"
    Salvage-Include r3 gets saved as "Salvage-Include.xml"


    You are now ready to load spellcast on mnk.

    Modify the gear in the sets in the mnk.xml to fit what you have available.

    Mote-Config-Include.xml includes a number of variables to define the spellcast behavior. You may modify these if you wish to change the defaults, but I would suggest not messing with them until you have a better understanding of how it works.


    In addition, read the "Spellcast Revision 3 Notes" paste on pastebin for additional setup information.

    So I re-purposed my sch xml for Geo since they share a majority of the same gear, but for some reason my cure set in my Geo xml will not work whatsoever.

    It will not swap precast or Cure Pot gear in on cast at all. The rule in the geo xml that controls cures is the exact same rule in my sch xml. If I switch to Sch and Cure, the rule works fine.

    Every single bit of that code is enclosed in the <if spell="Aquaveil"> .... </if>

    none of that is firing because if the spell is aquaveil, then it isnt cure, etc.

    You also have some funky stuff going on in your SCH xml (half your rules are enclosed in a <if notspell="Impact"> ... </if> rule. It's probably not causing you any problem, but it's fucking strange that you did it that way.)

    When spellcast was updated there was an auto xml updater for a while to bring people's xmls up to the new spellcast's requirements. Anyone have the link to that file as I never updated a couple of jobs files and they're now causing it to complain and refuse to work since I had to move to windower 4.

    Yugl and Motenten thanks a lot for both of your help, I wasn't really sure about includes but some of the features seemed cool so if I could leave them in then thats fine, the XML seems to work fine now so once again thanks a lot this game is so much nicer since my transition from Xbox and SC is just the icing on the cake

    So the last time I posted in this thread I asked about being able to have my BLM mule cycle through Abyssea procs. I just updated some of my older spellcasts and I noticed Motenten's now include functionality for what I was asking. How exactly would I macro for these using gkeys? Right now I have each spell set individually and it sucks.

    Back with another spellcast foul-up. My current issue is in my BLU xml - for my Amorphic Spikes set, for some reason, it keeps equipping my Novio Earring. I have double-checked my XML for any spot where it could be occurring, and there is no reason for it to be using the Novio; it should be using my Thunder Pearl. I've gone over it a dozen times and can't figure out where I goofed, and think it may be a bug. I could be wrong though.

    Edit #2: And fixed. Derped on my part, since I use the recent files function on Notepad++ it was still using my 3.4 files, so obviously changing them wasn't making a difference for Windower 4.

    Is there a way to make a "ghetto yarnball" with haste and Regen IV? Like have spellcast notify you when haste/regen iv wears off for a party member and keep notifying you until you finally haste that person again.

    I also get the feeling I need to figure out the triggers better but I have to get rid of the first error before i move on to anything else.

    Maybe remove the plus symbol or use a different one?

    I'm having trouble with my gear not swapping for geomancy spells. I haven't tried swapping based on geo abilities, so I guess I should look into that as well here soon. Here's my problem though:
    I could use a hand with geomancy triggers for spellcast. I've tried

    <action type="equip" when="midcast" set="Geo" />
    </if>
    along with <if Skill="Geo-*|Indi-*"> with no luck.
    My resources folder has the file named spells.xml and that contains all of the new geomancy spells.

    The "Skill" for geomancy spells seems blank. The type is set to Geomancy though.

    I don't know how you'd set it up with g-keys, but these are what I'd probably bind:

    1 bind to toggle Proc casting:
    /ma CastingMode Proc

    8 binds for elements:
    "/ma [element]ElementTrigger Proc"
    eg: "/ma "FireElementTrigger Proc"

    5 binds for casting:
    /ma AnyElementTrigger Proc-T3
    /ma AnyElementTrigger Proc-T4
    /ma AnyElementTrigger Proc-AM
    /ma AnyElementTrigger Proc-Ga3
    /ma AnyElementTrigger Proc-Brd


    Assuming you can get Ctrl- and Alt- binds, as well as normal binds, this can be done on as little as 5 keys, but probably more comfortably done on 6.
