    GeForce 9-series problem

I installed ffxi on my new lap top and when I expect to see good graphics, I see GameBoy graphics instead.

My lap top is a Qosmio X305-Q715.
The video card is a Nvidia GeForce 9700M GTS.
I'm using Windows 7 RC atm.

Is there a way to get my lap top to display like I think it should? I read that the 8 series has trouble with FFXI that is incurable atm, is this the same thing?

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks.

did you set up the ffxi config properly?

You can make it higher then the ffxi config can go by:

Step 1:go to your run command and type REGEDIT and click ok.

Step 2: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on software.

Step 3: Click PlayOnlineUS and Square Enix folder, then the FinalFantasyXI tab.

Step 4: You should see 2 files 003 and 004. Double click and change the value on 003 to 800, and change 004 to 800. You will notice the values to the right after you click ok will change to the corresponding resolution.

    2048 x 2048 = 800 and 800
    1600 x 1600 = 640 and 640
    1280 x 1280 = 500 and 500

Yea, I didn't even try that. I've done it before on an old lap top. However, I just tried it and PlayOnlineUS isn't even showing in the listing. Nor is any other version of PlayOnline or FFXI.

    Any reason for this?

Edit: Just went into ffxi config again and for some reason it reset itself back to a lower background res. Swear I set it up to 1024x1024 before; guess it didn't save for whatever reason. That fixed the gameboy graphics, but still curious why ffxi isn't showing up in regedit.

As far as nvidia cards on windows 7 goes, you might also want to use the 182.08 drivers for vista instead of the newest ones released for 7. Better performance over all with the older drivers. Newest drivers caused my card to perform way under par.
