Unless the lottery returned enough to get me 3/4 of the way to an excalibur, I'd take dring. Then even if it did return 3/4 or more of what I need, it would be tough not to take the dring. I can farm for gil. I can't farm a dring nearly as easily.

Pretty much ANY relic, even if you already have a few, is going to do more for your playstyle than -10% damage taken. Even as PLD or RDM. And this is coming from a PLD.

The better the rest of your gear, and the better you are as a player, the less you'll notice D. Ring. Yes it is an AMAZING piece but so are relic weapons. In terms of what you'll get out of your investment I can pretty much assure you the novelty of D. Ring will wear off soon.

Gil -> finish bravura -> receive D. Ring every time I WS.

The rank 1 prize should be right at 100 million, which I'd imagine will make most of the D-Ring choosers change their minds. Personally, I wouldn't get much out of a gil prize unless I someday choose to self-fund multiple relics.
