That's always the proper judgment. Natural selection, baby.

Radiation can't even cure cancer all the way, and they expect something else to do the trick? If the kid doesn't want chemo, and he is in full understanding that he will die without treatment, then let him stop.
He's thirteen. He isn't fully informed and in most likelihood, he doesn't know the consequences of his inaction. Holistic/alternative medicine is a complete farce. All it does is give you some piece of mind before you die a horridly painful death because you were too fucking scared and stupid to take the conventional medicine that would save your fucking life. Thin the herd. Start with his fucking parents for pumping that bullshit into his brain.
Do they have health insurance? If so this is lol indeed. God also gave you a brain. Use it. Making babies needs to be a privilege not a right.
Eat. Many. Peppers.
Because they taste good too.
Which is worse: Poisoning your entire body for weeks or months at a time to remove an incurable virus, or death?
The latter would be my answer. Chance to live > certain death.
yeah, when you get cancer go ahead and see if peppers help. if they did, don't you think cancer would be a non-issue?
Did you even read the article? Capsaicin can trigger premature cancer cell death very similar to that of conventional chemotherapy without many of the side effects. I wouldn't be surprised if it is used in the future in conventional medicine, especially for skin based cancers.
And since when are (most non HPV) cancer types related to viral infections?
yes, I did. If you honestly believe that works, then why is there even a single death from prostate cancer ever? just eat a few habaneros and you're set? it's a joke, welcome to reality.
edit: I used the wording 'virus', b/c cancer is difficult to classify in terms of pathogens or genetic mutations.
Noone ever had to developed medicine, it just always worked, right?.
Obviously there would be developed treatments based off of this research, and targeted applications of the substance as opposed to just 'eating too many peppers'. I was trying to make a joke where you could get around the 'conventional medicine' stigma and actualy do something that might actually help.
I'm sorry you were born without sarcasm detection.
...and that is why they call it Cancer.
This is like darwinism.
Nevermind I hate you right now miz.
Daniel goes the the Oncologist.
Is this real life?
lol sciento...wait....
Sextuplet parents take B.C. to court over baby seizures
Even in Canada, some people rather their babies met God sooner.
can someone direct me to a source that gives reasons how this is linked to darwinism, cus i dont get it.
Heaven helps those that help themselves.
People throw "informed consent" around like it's going out of fashion. To an ethicist like myself these are the extreme cases that are really quite interesting from a philosophical point of view. There are a few factors that come into play on extreme cases:
1) Societal expectations. Otherwise known as the "ugh" factor. Generally, society has an "ugh" factor about lots of edge cases like these. Consensual cannibalism, such as the case in Germany, Jehovah's Witnesses refusing blood transfusions, to name a few.
2) The "right" to informed consent. Despite what you'd like to think, given the "ugh" factor from 1), you really ultimately don't have, under most governments etc., full rights to making informed consent decisions, despite how informed you are. This is because the "ugh" factor plays into many laws, etc. such as the ones being appealed to in this case. When it comes down to it, society in general doesn't want to deal with the possibility of consensual cannibalism or the idea that anyone can just say "no thanks" to life-saving medicine (or even sue doctors that give it to them under extreme circumstances such as coma/unconsciousness etc.). To have a well functioning societal structure comes, to a certain degree with these edge cases, before what would otherwise be some sort of right to pure liberty.
The interesting question comes up when we start to tease out where the line is drawn, and that's why you see some cases go for the crazy person and others go the other way.
And that's what you guys all pay me to think about. Well, the Aussie taxpayers anyway. Thanks guys <3
