how is there 6 pages on a flu?
how is there 6 pages on a flu?
I dunno but every time I look at this forum I read the title as first Cyanide storm and go OMFG WUT?!
uh...wut. How are you even keeping 10,200 cases in perspective. What evidence do you have that you should use "already" to describe 10,200. Compared to x flu, swine flu has infected more people? I don't understand how you can use a flat number to describe the severity of this - it doesn't make sense. You also say cases are on the rise...again, you can't use sheer numbers to use as evidence here. Are you just saying more people are getting infected? because that doesn't mean shit lol.
So there is a lot wrong with your argument; this is all coming from just 1 paragraph. It stuck out the most but the others had lots wrong too. It's pretty sad you know these figures too >.>
brb guys gonna hide in my swine flu fallout shelter until this blows over.
More people getting infected at a rapid rate, does mean shit. Especially if it occurs in dense populations (hello mutations). I only stated the 10,200 because the who stated it's 10,243 or something and I didn't feel like going to their website at the time to find the actual number.
The WHO and CDC both already stated many times recently that there are actually over 100,000 estimated cases that are unconfirmed. Not everyone's going to go to the hospital because most people are recovering on their own, so we won't ever have an actual estimate number of ALL cases til several years from now. Until then we'll only see the WHO and CDC post the cases they confirm through tests on patients that come to clinics/hospitals.
They're telling people not to go to clinics here because there's not really much you can do about it and it's generally mild.
It' generally mild, but it's still worse than the normal flu. CDC reports that it can cause "excessive vomiting, diarrhea," more than that of the regular flu. It has a 3 day + incubation period, can be contagious for up to 7 days (hello missed work / class time), and it's best to stay home for 24hrs more the day you feel better. The normal influenza can go away a lot quicker than this (24hr is the shortest time that I've had normal flu).
All influenza have possibility of death, and this one is no exception and can cause death specifically in people who are obese/pregnant/have underlying respiratory conditions and other chronic ailments/weakened immune system. There has been a death to a 28 athletic healthy Missouri man though, but doctors are doing an autopsy to confirm that he was healthy.
The NYC assistant principal only recently had gout (uric acid-blood blah blah), which I doubt would cause him to develop multiple underlying ailments that put him in critical conditions... The severe version of H1N1 also causes headaches/characteristics of cytokine storms or pneumonia/head aches/tightened chest/excessive sweating, along with the excessive vomiting, and diarrhea.
Laugh now Vekta, but when you get it, you're gonna be crying for y0 m0mmA!
You're not very much fun.
I am fun as hell when I need to be, but now is serious time.
see, this tells me you have no idea what you are talking about. What rapid rate? 10k people infected in over a month out of the 1 billion( ? ) in north america? what is the rate of contagion? You can't just say " a rapid rate " without any kind of ...rate... in mind. What is rapid? What about swine flu has made you think rapid? is it rapid compared to something...?
and then once again, you are totally jumping to assume mutations which is a pretty ridiculous and unfounded assumption sparked completely by your fascination and fear of this. It's pretty funny dude lol
edit: lmfao @ pandemic alert level. get a fucking life man. there is no reason anyone should know what that is, not to mention what the actual values are and mean
Also btw, the only reason why I'm so serious really is, because the Pandemic Alert Level is at 5 (Pandemic is "Imminent". Now we all know that there would be less fears if the WHO would revise their Alert Level System so that it takes into account both "Severity" and "Spread of Disease" rather than just the "Spread of Disease" alone.
They would also have to adjust the number to a lower level like 2 or 3 or so. This would ease media hype, and public paranoia tensions easily. Japan and other countries at the WHO's annual world meeting thingy suggested that the WHO does this, maybe they will soon, who knows.
P.S. bacon
So what would you like us to do then? Because all the spouting off of supposed facts that can be spun one way or another does absolutely nothing. All I keep hearing is you saying how dangerous this strain is without concrete numbers to back up your claims. So seriously, what exactly is your goal here? To make BG aware of the serious threat that is looming on the horizon(at least in your world that is.) Or just to attempt to troll everyone here?
Well it's fine to make his stance known. But when you're continuing to do nothing else other than that, what the fuck is the point of posting nonstop about it? Do you have swine flu? No. Will you catch swine flu? No. Why are you still talking about it? Is it to pad your post count? To troll people? You've seriously offered no new insight. Just more of the same.
It's not over yet, so I hope you haven't forgotten! Stay vigilant, and wash your hands practice good hygiene. The WHO reports over 12,000 cases now but I'm sure it'll be over 13,000 after the holiday weekend, also, this is the 11th H1N1 U.S. Death so definitely was a severe case. I wish they'd say what underlying health conditions the people had, rather than being so private and shat.2nd Death in New York City Is Linked to Swine Flu
A second New York City resident, a woman from Queens in her 50s, has died from swine flu, the city’s health department said on Sunday.
Like the first New Yorker to die of the virus, an assistant principal at a Queens middle school, the woman had an underlying health condition that made her more at risk from the disease, Jessica Scaperotti, a health department spokeswoman, said.
Ms. Scaperotti declined to reveal any further details of the case, including the hospital where the woman had been treated. But she said that the woman died sometime over the past two days and that testing had confirmed that the woman had the H1N1 virus.
The number of people hospitalized with swine flu since the beginning of the outbreak in New York City at the end of April had risen to 94 on Sunday from 68 Saturday and 57 on Friday, health department officials said, suggesting that the rate of infection and hospitalization might be increasing.
Ms. Scaperotti could not say how many of those patients were currently hospitalized or how many were in critical condition. On Friday, St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center said it had a patient in critical condition with swine flu at its location in Morningside Heights.
“As we see more cases in the community we are going to see more severe illness and possibly death,” Ms. Scaperotti said. “If you’re sick right now with flu, you probably have H1N1.”
On Sunday, health officials continued to stress that anyone with underlying health conditions — like diabetes, asthma, emphysema or a compromised immune system — who is exposed to flu should seek medical attention.
Ms. Scaperotti said the latest school to announce it was closing because of swine flu, a yeshiva school in Brooklyn, had made the decision on its own, without seeking a recommendation from the health department. She said that was the prerogative of private schools.
I understand that 1 death in Arizona was caused by the immune system compromise caused by pregnancy which can be considered one, and then another death some where was caused by obesity, and asthma, and finally another one was a 16 month toddler who can be considered underlying because of lower immunity due to age.
I don't understand the death of a healthy teenager in Missouri/ a Healthy Assistant Principal in New York though.
Also note that Ms. Scapergotti says that 'if you are sick right now with flu-like symptoms, you probably have the swine flu,' so there's a lil confirmation from the doctor, basically she's trying to say don't go to the hospital unless you have severe illness, and to assure than normal flu season is basically over, and we're now in swine flu season...
I still don't understand why they are taking so long to test people, they took 2 days to fully test a dead corpse for H1N1? WHO and CDC approximate that there are about 100,000+ cases that are unconfirmed in the U.S. due to the craptacular testing done by clinics, and Japan and the U.K. are both saying that they have 30,000+ unconfirmed in correlation to the CDC's estimates for the U.S.'s unconfirmed that is. I guess they'll start county more seriously when there's dead bodies all over the streets.
Also, they've begun vaccine production, but they aren't mass producing til the WHO decides in late June or early July. If they wait til July to start mass producing, then it'll take 6 months before there's enough for 1/3 (2 billion) of the world population of 6 billion people, meaning they wont be done til January...
God, just shut the fuck up and stop bumping the thread.
Even though swine flu is a complete fucking joke and I wish you would just shut the fuck up and stop posting because you're a retarded piece of shit.
I am glad that I am an upper middle class white male, so I would be getting one of those vaccines, should this ever get to be something big. Thank you lottery!
