5 people dying out of 4200 is a fucking joke to say this is going to change the world.
Quit feeding the fucking hype. It's bee said 5000000 times, but I'm sick and tired of the news feeding the shitstorm and fear just like they do for the government and global problems. The media wants you to be scared - stop being a pussy and put this is perspective.

People dying is no joke, if you think it is then you're really mesed up. No one's feeding the hype besides the people like you who are like:
this swine flu is a fucking joke, let me go post in swine flu threads to convince these idiots that it's a joke, and that nothing will go wrong, because i'm a psychic/profit/evangelist and GOD, and I know what's going to happen in the upcomming months.
Media has been very helpful in my opinion. You don't have to listen to them if you don't want to. Just turn off the news, and all radios and don't read the articles online. Then when you're feeling funny one day, and the next day you're in a hospital critically ill, then you'll be like "OMG WHY"D IT NOT KEEP UP WITH THE NEWS, I DID NOT KNOW IT MUTATED." Then you'll feel the pain the assistant principal felt, the pain that you call a "joke."

FYI he's the first person who has died from it with no additional underlying health conditions at the time of his death. He only had a history of gout, which has nothing to do with this disease, except for the kidney failure maybe...There's also that Arkansas 28 year old story, but we'll find out from his Autopsy tomorrow...

PS: 4200 is far from the actual number of actual cases, those are just confirmed case numbers in the U.S. Not everyone is going to go to their doctor and get tested for this, some people are lazy and will just brush it off, and not know they might have a mutated strain of h1n1, then just die alone in their apartment or some shit, and police will just find dead body etc...I know ALOT of old people who live alone and don't have anyone watching after them...

There's an ignore button I thought.

And Vajra, jesus, just shut the fuck up. Okay?

Swine Flu is potentially dangerous, but then again, so are many other diseases out there.

Meningococcal Disease-Technical and Clinical | CDC Meningitis
CDC - Influenza (Flu) | Weekly Report: Influenza Summary Update Week 17, 2008-2009 Season
    http://apps.who.int/infobase/report....19&goButton=Go

To name a few. Stop fucking crying over Swine Flu. So some people have died. This guy had flu-like symptoms for weeks before he actually sought treatment. Do you even read these articles?

Quit spreading the fucking fear. If they were spreading information about Swine Flu, the media would just be informing people that the best thing to do is 1) Not panic, 2) Not worry unless they exhibit flu-like symptoms, and 3) to explain what flu-like symptoms are.

That's all they need to say. And they do. Except they add "WOAMG WEAR A MASK SANITIZE AND WATCH OUT IF UR COUGHING AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE SWINE FLU IS A PANDEMIC AND WE WILL ALL GET SICK OMG FIRST US DEATH".

It's the fucking flu. People die from the flu every day. People die from the flu every year in the UNITED STATES ALONE.

So no, there's no need to fuck a mound of sand just because a few people who were 'otherwise healthy' die of a disease that there is no 'cure' for. There is a cure for it. It's called take care of yourself and don't be stupid. Viruses mutate all the time.

God damn, go learn about Virology and then come back and cry wolf. There is nothing to worry about at the moment unless every state suddenly starts having their death toll climb.

The total amount of people who have died worldwide so far pales completely in comparison to the number of people who die in Africa every day from various diseases. Let it go.

After reading this thread Vajra you are coming off as very paranoid and not just spreading knowledge. All the people coming in here and telling you to shut up and swine flu is stupid and all that made you defensive which makes you sound even worse.

That said swine flu is something to be AWARE of (not paranoid or panicked) because it is different and potentially dangerous. Its death rate is a much higher percentage than the regular flu even though it has not killed many people because much less people have been infected.

Flu outbreaks are something to worry about over other diseases because the flu is much more contagious than many of the other dangerous diseases and spreads faster and easier than others.

It seems strange but the flu has the perfect setting to become very dangerous because people don't think much about it and are still willing to go out in public when they only have a cough and a fever, it also has the perfect incubation period that it can infect others efficiently.

A perfect example is Ebola, Marburg, and other hemorrhagic fever viruses. There are a lot of theories that the reason why there has not been a major worldwide outbreak of one of these horrible diseases is because they kill too fast. There is a fine balance of traits for a disease that makes it perfect to spread rapidly amongst a large populace.

Swine flu is not dangerous yet and it is not something to panic about but people should not stop being aware of it. Even the media stopped paying attention to it.

They obviously put all of their evolution points into symptoms and not so much into resistance and transmission. That never works.

And fuck Madagascar. At least they will be around to repopulate the earth.

I do want to thank you guys for keeping me up to speed on this. My hatred of the news coupled with my Munchausen/Hypochondriac Mother in-law work against my attaining any actual truth about this.

WHO chief does not raise swine flu alert level

I mean, come on - shit, even the rest of the world thinks the US needs to quit hyping the shit out of H1N1.

The only country, according to what I read, that is making a big deal out of it, is US.

All I read was the title the Uh Oh we're in trouble and for some reason all I can think of is the theme song from Big Trouble in Little China.

You obviously are heartless man, oh well I'll feel sorry to all the people like you in a couple of weeks-months who are being obnoxious jerks. People don't seem to get prepared for things until they hit close to home.

I guess it's really an American thing really, always doing things the last minute, and then later on succumbing to disaster...I could go in depth in Katrina preparedness/disaster reaction, or 911 intelligence/President Bushes' go to war for WMD reaction, so many examples really.

You've got to be a fool to go out and not be at least a bit cautious. There's plenty of American's who don't practice good hygiene in public. Even that Thunderf00t guy pointed out how unclean little things like an Airport hand-scanner is (the official wears gloves but never cleans the hand scanner with alcohol after each scan).

Can only hope that most people now will realize that it's ok to wash your hands after you touch unclean items such as money (BIG germ transfer item), random surfaces, knobs, keyboard that's not yours. You wont see people who have flu-symptoms wearing masks either, because they lack common sense. People are just too tied up into fashion and don't want to look weird.

Instead they'll just go around with an asshole mentality sneezing all over the place and making people sick. Oh well what can we do, cant yell at people like those, they just have this idea that the "SWINE FLU IS A JOKE, MEDIA HYPING, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR LALALALALA."

When you prove to me it isn't a joke (as far as the relative risk to humanity is concerned), I would start being concerned. You don't even seem to understand how viral mutation occurs, which is why I pass you off as nothing but a troll (even if it isn't your intention). I think it has already been said. This strain is quite contagious, and moderately low risk, much like other strains of 'real' swine flu. Avian flu is far more deadly to humans, which is why is was worthy of media coverage. More people, on average, are going to die this week from food poisoning in the United States than the H1N1 strain. Should we stop eating food too?

Really, people like you thinking that proper hygiene and paper masks alone will save them is the problem. If this strain was actually deadly, literally tens of thousands of people would be dead already. The fact that it was in NYC already would have caused this to completely dominate all forms of media for weeks, and yet I have only seen silly stories about people getting yelled at for closing schools.

Take a deep breath. Evolve an immune system. Stop watching FOX News.

There's a fairly simple way to cut all this shit off now. Compare the deaths from swine flu to the deaths from regular flu. But you don't see people freaking out about regular flu.......

I liked your post so much, that I'll compliment it with something along the same lines.

In the U.S. nearly 43,000 people are killed in auto accidents each year; and we're all still driving cars.

Fuck Swine Flu, we need to teach people how to fucking drive.

AAA report says that car accidents cost Americans $164.2 B. - Mar. 5, 2008 AAA Report.
