    Minigame for master sergeant promotion

Sorry if this has been asked. I can't find help any where else.

I've been trying the 3rd mini game for the promotion to master sergeant rank for the last couple of days, almost once every hour when I'm awake. Was alright until the last one which require you to run with 3 npcs and motivate them when they are too far behind.

Is there a trick to it? Do you spam the first option until somone lags behind?
How far back should you let them be before you whistle?
Near the end, there's always 1 or 2 who won't respond to your whistling.

Please help. Thank you so much.

I don't remember any trouble with this quest personally. I followed these directions:

Blow the whistle on anyone who is 2~3 steps behind the others. Towards the end of the run, the recruits take longer to catch up when you blow the whistle. So, do it sooner so that they are all caught up when the scene ends or else you'll fail.

Basically just compensate for the lag you get towards the end from whistle blow to them catching back up because none of them can be behind when they reach the end.

I didn't dare whistle too quickly as I read in wiki, it says the npc will ignore your whistles if you over do it. So I usually waited till they are out of screen before I press enter. That's incorrect?

And the only post I found so far has this guy claiming to have spent over a week on it. So I thought it must be difficult.

Ok. Thank you. I will try once I'm home.

I think the [too-much-whistle-blowing = fail] is there just to keep people from spamming whistle-blows on every recruit that falls 1 pixel behind. Just do it when they are a few feet back I think. Just got to be quicker about it at the end. Once you get that down, it might take one more try to time it better (or get lucky) that they are all up front at the very end.

    No,

I waited it the top lagging recruits head fell roughly in line with the leading recruits shoulder/mid torso.

Over use of the whistle is not a concern if you are trying to do it properly.

You should only need to blow it 1-3 times on each recruit.

I got this on the second time (first time some one started lagging right at the end and I didn't catch them in time).

I found this one hard when I tried it in windowed mode. When I switched to fullscreen, suddenly it was really easy.

Not sure why, but it might be worth a try if you usually play windowed.

I'll echo the sentiments that you shouldn't worry about overdoing the whistle. Use the whistle early and often, whenever someone falls behind. Just don't spam it randomly when it isn't even needed.

Thank you all. I got that done (2nd attempt that night) after seeing Mioko's post. Just whistle when it is necessary. Wasted the whole sunday trying this every hour.

Now, someone should correct the entry in wiki...^^
