It's kinda hard to determine where they could take the story without it seeming like a cool, but unecessary addon to the story (hi, FFVII Crisis Core), since MGS4 really went out of the way to tie up most of the loose ends left by each game. If I had to guess, I'd go with the Post-Portable Ops Pre Metal Gear time period. One of the bigger missing links in the storyline is ZERO creating the Patriots, the Les Enfante terrible project, and Big Boss's departure from the group. They touch on this multiple times, but it is never elaborated upon. The Big Boss picture kinda fits that time period pretty well too; obviously post MGS4/PortOps, but before Metal Gear. The 'Raiden' picture COULD be Gray Fox, but it does look a hell of a lot like Raiden's armor in MGS4. Then again, it could just be another link between characters that Kojima seems to love to make. A game leading up to the time frame of the original Metal Gear would be pretty amazing.

Its all over the media because of E3. It was announced with the new line up for the new PSP. As far as I know there hasn't been any mention from Kojima but the rep that gave the information for the PSP mentioned it.

Would also go along with my theory of there being two games coming out. Since the numbers say 360 and PC as well.

The magazine in question that first let loose with the "new MGS" game does only cover PS3/PSP games, but Metal Gear Solid 4 + Oxide should be announced for the 360 during Microsoft's press conference, in addition to whatever new game is coming for the Sony console(s).

Interesting though, Microsofts conference is at 10:30am (in a little over 9hrs) given they last about an hour.... thats a pretty decent difference between the conference and the site announcement. Wonder why.
