It would be pretty scary if you were one of the many who ask long time California residents like me, if its worth the risk living here "with all the earthquakes". This is usually the, "I'm considering moving to California but.." conversations. So, did you speculate about our "incredible" earthquake ratio before moving here? If so, did you flip out having one on your second day? I just have to ask!

I don't own a car (since the Metro is fucking fantastic), but I'll be borrowing/renting one for E3 (June 2nd-4th), so I'll be more mobile then. You're only about a half hour away from me, at that. I'll send you a PM.

The Blue and Red lines aren't that bad at all. The express lines haul ass too. It certainly beats the hellish traffic and obviously save some gas money. The Silver Streak (Foothills Transit) have wifi and all the jazz. I'd avoid the regular buses though. You'll be exposed to all kinds of bo.

Yeah, no idea what the hell is going on here. If you live and work in the very specific places where the subway runs, sure. Otherwise (98% of the city) lolno.

Compared to riding the buses in other parts of the country? Considering the sheer amount of lines, how often they run during business hours, and so on, so forth, yes, it's fantastic. You can get anywhere you need to go.

If you prefer smelly (on the outside, since the inside is inevitably essential everywhere) buses that only run once an hour and don't run at all at night, then I guess that's cool.

And if you're going to bitch about homeless people, angry bus drivers, or any of that bullshit, give me a break. That's how public transportation is. You don't consider that a detriment unless you're a prissy queen who can't handle the city.

Public transportation is the shit except if you're an attractive girl without common sense.

The funny thing about earthquakes is even though they may not even be strong quakes, the news channels make it out like it's 10x bigger than it actually is. After maybe a small 3.7 magnitude quake, the news channels might cut into a program during the commercial break with people calling in saying they felt it but nothing fell and there was no damage. Granted this one did have the power to shake stuff off shelves in some areas, it wasn't that big of a deal. The one we had a few months back in the Chino Hills area was bigger than this past one.

By the way for those of you who moved here, welcome to So. California. The one from Sunday was relatively small and short lived compared to ones we've had in the past (Landers/Big Bear and Northridge were pretty bad)

Ah. When I see Metro, I think 'comprehensive public transit system.' LA Metro sucks because it's almost completely dependent on buses, and the buses run on the streets on LA, and are therefore exceptionally slow.

Give me a subway to the sea and then we can start talking.

SF metro is fantastic. NYC metro is fantastic. LA metro is bleeearrrrgh.

Also, I totally didn't feel any earthquake, sitting on the 3rd story of an apartment in Los Feliz.
