Here's my RDM. It's my most recent 75 (about three weeks old) and still needs a lot of work, but I'm happy with where it's gotten to so far.

    http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/6834/rdmgear.jpg

Didn't post my HMP or Stoneskin set. The Stoneskin set is capped of course (doing this is easy) and my HMP set isn't bad, but still needs a lot of work.

Obvious improvements that I'm working on or already plan to get eventually:

    - Duelist's Chapeau
    - Goliard Clogs (Nyzul never drops)
    - AF1+1 body (Temenos item never drops)
    - Morrigan's Slops (Salvage never drops)
    - Stone Mufflers (SCNM never drops)
    - Legion Scutum (ZNM never drops . . are we seeing a trend here?)
    - Decent enfeebling earrings (Mamool Ja Earring/Enfeebling Earring, but the former requires doing MMM and the latter is a little out of my budget while upgrading Apoc)

Also eventually Altruistic Cape and Nashira Seraweels for maximum enfeebling, but those aren't as high priority as the aforementioned items. Right now I'm basically casting all of my enfeebling magic in the "basic" set that I posted above because it's a good balance between Enfeebling/INT/MND. If I'm doing Paralyze/Slow/Bind on something that I know I won't get resisted on, I'll throw on my Crimson Scale Mail for the extra kick. I haven't gone the way of using windower macros and spellcast yet because I'm behind the times and "traditional" I guess (I just got Yarnball two weeks ago and shortly thereafter realized how much hell I put myself through while leveling this job without it, argh).

    Anyway, tear it apart!

Personally I'd pick up a Phantom Tathlum for INT based spells/nukes, and an H bomb for others/cures/hastes/refresh etc! And maybe a communion Earring.

Also I'd look into getting things like Gleeman's cape and another INT ring as it's really helpful for things like Bind especially! You will need it on bigger stuff.

If you have a jelly ring I'd also stick that in your RDM idle if you feel you can remove the serket ring.

I'd think this would be obvious, but Jelly Ring, Umbra Cape(yes, I realize you're wearing a Shadow Mantle), and some manner of Refresh(or R&R[Ixion Cloak]) would all be great improvements for your 'Idle' set.

Well, my Nin may not be amazing, but why not!

For lower evasion mobs, body can be swapped to Af and neck to Hope torque. For higher evasion, hands from Dusk to Usukane, Rajas to 2nd Sniper's, and Turban to Hissho Hachimaki. Obvious upgrades are Haub+1, Fire Bomblet, 6% belt, Breeze Gorget, and Usu Feet. But for starting from almost nothing about a month ago on my mule, it gets the job done!

I have the Gleeman's already, forgot to mention that! I also have the Jelly Ring, but I wasn't really sure if I wanted to idle in it since I find myself taking more magic damage than anything normally while on RDM, anyway. But, I'll start sticking it in my inventory just in case. Thanks for the suggestions, once I get a bit more immediate cash on hand I'll buy a Snow and make a stronger +INT set for Bind!

Ixion Cloak was definitely considered for RDM but I'm really not far off from Duelist's Chapeau (literally solo lotting the next one that drops in DB), so I haven't dropped the gil for it yet. Similar situation with Shadow Mantle vs. Umbra Cape - is the latter really significantly better? Shadow should be ~7-10% damage reduction over the course of a large sample size and even more if it blocks dangerous TP moves.

I wouldn't bother with Ixion, if you need a Chap holdover get a V.Cloak or some junk. Umbra is 6/12% and always active, I would take the consistency over the Shadow Mantle myself, but I also don't have Shadow.

I also second the Phantom Tathlum, I don't use anything else unless I'm breaking out Kaman for MDB set or to pull something.

For actual casting I'd prefer Errant Body over Wyrmal, just because there's random times that I'll get a bad Dragon Killer proc on a DRG mob(or even trying to Cure a DRG player) or Demon(used to happen a lot in Xarc when I'd be lazy and cast Sleeps from my idle set sometimes). It won't happen often but I'd rather it not happen at all.

Altruistic Cape is a fucking myth, I prefer Prism just to consolidate an inventory space(even with Satchel and 9/10 GobbyBags I still have inventory issues sometimes, lol), but if you have both Einherjar capes and space I'm sure those are preferrable.

Edit: For most things you'll actually do as RDM(assuming you're on PLD for anything heavy-duty) I wouldn't start off with the basic enfeebling set, if you think the full on MND is a stretch try MND set + staves, then the enfeebling set if things don't stick the first time.

i don't understand why people keep saying consistency of umbra is better. I'll take a 0 damage attack so I can finish my cast over a 12% reduction any day.

I don't know the last time I actually got interrupted from getting hit while casting between SS/Shadows/Fast Cast/etc, I meant more to increase the longevity of your Stoneskin. You aren't even taking physical damage that often in general, much less enough to break Stoneskin in a single hit.

Mahatma feet and Devotee's Mitts +1 haven't been mentioned, I think, but those would be useful for weaker HNMs to land Paralyze/Slow. If you can get your hand on Shadow Clogs, that will replace Goliard clogs for MND debuffs on harder mobs. Even though I have an enfeebling earring, only purchase one if you're all set with equips. I would definitely buy a Cmn earring asap though.

1 - TP set used against anything I feel that I'll have a reasonable evasion rate against, or whenever I need to play a bit more defensively.
2 - TP set up used when the above is not applicable.
3 - Tachi: Kaiten setup. Debating whether or not to use Vampire Earring at night. Thoughts?
4 - Tachi: Yukikaze/Gekko/Kasha setup. Appropriate gorgets for each. I don't own an Osode anymore. Vampire Earring at night, Smilodon +1 for SA + WS.
    5 - Physical Damage Reduction. -24% PDT -2% DT +15 Parrying Skill
    6 - Magical Damage Reduction. -23% MDT -2% DT

Ambiguous: Velocious Belt, Toreador's Ring, Justice Torque

Obvious improvements are obvious. I also have an Olibanum Sachet that didn't swap in because I was townin' as a hume. I use this for all of my Weapon Skills. Didn't bother posting Rana, mainly because I'm lazy.

Nice looking SAM, grats on finishing Amano. The only spot I would point at anything (minimal) is the Phys Defense set. It's kind of a hybrid mix, at which point I would go with Byakko's in the leg slot and maybe a parrying torque in the neck (could mix other pieces around, but I wouldnt give up 15 dex, 5% haste, solid defense in the leg slot of a hybrid build). If full out turtle set, you could swap into parrying torque/earring and maybe an agi ring in place of rajas.

For Kaiten, I dont think you will really gain much by using Vampire in place of Bushi at night.

I believe the +2 STR and +5att will outdo +4 STR even though it will be +1fSTR. Probably depends on buffs that you're getting will also detemine which earring is better. Also Resolute Belt and/or Liet. Sash should pick that up. Haha yea I've been getting DD lessons from Failure recently bet you didn't see that coming.

^ how come i never see anyone use lieutenants sash for MDT set when its basically free.

am i missing some hidden effect that hasn't been posted on wiki? i mean in most cases your not switching from sword to MDT polearm unless your kiting. so that extra -2mdt help more than a mdb waist.

I've wanted a Lieutenant's Sash for a while but have almost 0 motivation to merit. Resolute Belts never pop on the AH and I have barely 80k left to my name... lol. The Physical Damage Reduction set has served me pretty well, and I have 3 "degrees" of it. The lightest version uses Byakko's Haidate and Usukane Sune-ate. That's the "mid" version of the set. The full out "turtle" set pops in an earth staff.

As for the Vampire Earring, under the effects of Minuet or Chaos Roll I'd assume that Vampire would win out, but I'm still at odds with myself about this one. I'll probably just play around with it a bit more.

56k is a hell of long way from free <_<, especially for people who do ISNMs that's alot of gil potential to give up and if u just sell gold even it's 532k[at 9.5k per gold coin here]
