I honestly can't think of a relic on Fairy that when I saw/heard of it I didn't immediately think: waste of currency. Soboro mainly seems to be the weapon of choice for gimp ass SAMs that can't afford a Hagun but can afford 5/5 Hachiman. And lol Tellahh, still butthurt over being called out last time you surfaced I guess. Still Penta in Flame rings?

I should clarify, I don't hate my Hagun. I hate the way YGK operates so that there is an extremely limited outside influence on damage. Hagun is very good at doing what it's supposed to do, but YGK is very bad at being outstanding on weaker mobs compared to the way it shines on tougher mobs.

Friend of mine has 8/8 polearm and 8/8 gkatana and even on mamool his tomoe was doing more total damage.

I never said Soboro can beat Hagun, but saying Soboro is completely useless is ignorant as fuck. It's a killer DoT weapon and for those of us without merit space to 8/8 Polearm, it can be used in many different situations. Yes, I love my Tomoe, but the only place I see fit to use it effectively is Lolibri and mobs with pathetic Evasion (i.e. Limbus/Salvage1F-3F/Dyna-Cities). And on the topic of Pachi I won't even comment lol.

I've heard with full overwhelm Soboro can out-parse Hagun, I'm highly doubtful about that but I'd be interested to see how the maths works out.

Pachi can do a 5-hit, dunno if that makes up for the -acc and other stuff.

Soboro is fine, just go /WAR and rape shit. I'd prolly suggest a higher damage GKT if you went /THF to a party, but those parties are few and far between. Soboro will be your best damage output, and let's face it, Gekko is a kind of a shitty WS until Hagun and capped Overwhelm.

Edit: Don't use Pole grip with Soboro, though; it loses a lot of it's worth. Sword strap or Mythril grip +1 are the way to go.

Why would you suggest to go /war because of a Soboro? You lose out on the usefulness of DA? Of all things, soboro is the one time I'd say to not use /war, go /drg (unless you're in a good party, and thus have no tank, and you are full-time seigan and voking).

On anything that isn't Pierce-weak where you should be using PLM anyways, Soboro will trounce all other GKTs until Hagun. Soboro vs Onimaru is debatable, and really starts to depend on how fast your party is pulling and how many Meditate merits you have.

The more free TP your Onimaru gets from Meditate, the closer the gap between it and Soboro becomes. In a situation where you, literally, never stop swinging your GKT; Soboro will beat Onimaru.

A D:40 weapon averaging 2 swings an attack round is treated as a D:80 weapon in TP phase. However, it's much stronger in WS phase. You get twice as many WS, but it's not the same as a D:80 weapon WS'ing because your WSC is added onto each WS. Ie: You're WS'ing in 120Str on a 75% Str mod WS. You're effectively launching two D:130 WS, versus one D:173 WS. Excuse the very shorthanded math, but it's the general idea.

I would also stick to the Pole Grip even with Soboro, for the 2% DA on WS. This, of course, is all entirely situational since there aren't many mobs you use GKT on leveling up in ToAU. Magmatic Eruca, Imps, that's about it. But, in these situations, Soboro certainly isn't trash.

You're already bad/dumb if you're going to an eruca camp, so no need to worry about gimpness there, the camp covered ya.
However, Soboro is 1.9 average swings per round, which works out to 1.6-1.7x the WS rate (due to procs at high TP values). This was based around a 6hit build, so maybe a little bit different with a 7hit, but whatever. Your short math is excused, but it is insanely biased towards Soboro.

TLDR -
You're gimp if you camp at eruca, doesn't matter how gimp you are past that.
Soboro is never worth using in exp. 50>55 do in Eronfaure, 55>75 do at bird camps (55, 62, 72). Then get a Hagun. Oh ya, that means POLEARM. Keep that Soboro sitting around to recap GK at 75 though.
Don't bring tanks to exp parties, they lower your exp.
