Need some help about cats

Ok, so about 2 months ago we bought a 3month old male tabby . He is neutered, and everything. 2 days ago we decided to pick up another cat. 2month old female, she is spayed as well. Ever since we brought her home, he has of course started hissing at her and growling (even tried to paw her once).

I know cats territory-type animals, and since he has been the only pet in our apartment up until till, I'm sure he is pissed. What I am getting is this:

Has anyone here also done this before as well? Are there are any tips I can get for bonding them, or at least have him tolerate the new new kitten. She doesn't try to play with him...just when she comes near he does his thing. Also, tonight while I was at work...wife told me he backed her into a corner and started growling at her...when she tried to escape, he would cut her off. Anyway of trying to correct this behavior...would hate to give her up. I know it can take awhile for him to get used to her...but anything to help the process is appreciated. Thanks !

Eventually they will get bored of each other, generally just wait it out. It's even more fun when you introduce a dog to a cat, or a cat to a dog.

I'd have said first to either get two cats that had already lived together (even as kittens) or to have brought your male with you to see if they got along at first, it's made things easier for me in the past

I'd imagine they'll eventually figure out they have to get along though, especially if they're indoor only cats

2 days of disagreement is ok, give em a week , theyll need to tussle once or twice to establish dominance, if you continue to interfere they will smarten up and wait for you to leave. Eventually they will at worst realize they must co-habitate, especially if they wish for affection from you. Two food dishes, Two water bowls, leave the new one locked in the room with the one litterbox till its had time to use it, then let the other one smell the new cats .. odor..

be sure to show them both affection from each of you, pet and lock them in your communal sleeping area with you when you retire. If all else fails..

Given time they'll eventually get used to sharing the territory. Cats that aren't brought up together or aren't reared with siblings often get territorial until some form of dominance is established. After they sort it out amongst themselves they'll calm down.

I remember the first time I set my cat down in a room full of cats (that wasn't even my room). You'd think she was ready to commence with the rapage of every feline within 200 miles.

It'll take a couple of days until they're used to each other. I don't want to say they have to fight, because I'm not an expert or anything, but typically once they fight or hiss and growl etc., they'll realize who's the boss and whatnot. Even if they're domesticated house cats, they still have a hierarchy they go by. They'll co-exist just fine unless one of them was at one point feral or something, which I highly doubt you'd leave information like that out.

I've had cats my entire life and once we brought a new one in, the older cats always hissed and whatnot. We let them smack at the newer cats, but since we always get them as kittens, we don't allow them to excessively attack the kitten.

Same thing happened with my two females. They'll get over each other in a month or two. Just hiss back at them if they start to fight and break them up when they start to go at each other.

My cats groom each other now, and they fought like crazy when I first introduced them.

They will get bored of each other and eventually just chill out. If they fight, and its nothing severe, let them do it. Eventually they will learn who has the dominance of the area. Otherwise if you want to play the third-party role. You can discipline them, which most trainers will tell you to avoid.

We have 3 cats (now all 3 one year old). And all 3 of them hated each other the first 2 weeks we got them. Once they figured out who is boss of who. They just chilled and we caught them sleeping with each other a week or two later.

Anyways, good luck. Its nothing to be worried about unless they make a big fight about it. Which in that case you should step in and show some mediocre discipline.

Note: Having cats neutered/spayed is the easiest way to stop this problem, especially for males in my opinion.

First lesson: assume the role of mama cat.

Randomly knock one of them over and groom it roughly til it loves you.

Second lesson: learn how to discipline like a mama cat does.

If a kitten gets out of line around mama, she bitchslaps them. Your kitten gets out of line, cuff it with a couple fingers, not hard enough to break the thing, but enough to show you're serious that they need to cut out whatever they're doing.

You can let them figure out who is the boss, or you can be the boss.

I favor taking the mama cat role, though people often think I'm too harsh on them, every day they come to me for affection and grooming, and I don't have to do more than snap to make them stop doing something.

Fingertips and fingernails, knuckles, muss their fur up then methodically straighten it back out.

Roll them on their back and groom their arms, their sides, twist and pick out anything that isn't smooth.

^ this, all three of my cats were taught this and love being pushed slowly to lay on their side. They just wait for a scratch or smack on their lower back for some reason lol.

Yup, I see people try to give cats space, be polite, etc.

Cats are extremely physical, and remember being tiny next to mama.

You're the same size to a full grown cat as a mama is to a kitten.

one thing i did is have 2 food/water dishes, put them on opposite sides of the same door, so they would smell each other when they ate and get used to each other, week or two later they stopped hissing all the time

This also, 9AM, and 9PM I hear the music everyday.

throw them both in the tub of water together and get them all wet... lock them in the bathroom to dry off together... they will be best friends after that.
