As you can tell it has been a few years since I was around. The pic says 2002-2004 so I assume it was sometime late 2004 since I played him. Was wondering is there a chance they still have my info (character and stuff)? Even if they did, would I have to somehow remember the prepaid credit card# from 4 years ago to use my account?

I would like to come back, but starting over seems rough at this stage in the game. If I did have to start over, you guys think I would have fun this time around or is there not much hope for a fresh start this late in the game?

If you remember your POL account name and password you should be all set unless you deleted your character or your POL account.

If you do not remember your POL account and password you will need all your info as it was the last time your account was active including:

Name
Address
Phone
Email
First 4 and last 4 digits of last CC used to charge fees
Registration Codes (this can be forgiven with an explanation that you threw away that stuff a long time ago if you have remaining info)

You maybe be able to also get your account if you don't have the CC number by getting on the phone with a manager at SE and asking for a notarized form to prove who you are, though not sure on this.

As far as starting over, I restarted after quitting in '05, and I'm pretty much having a blast. Starting over from scratch would be a different story though, but it seems like it would be a lot easier and more fun than before. I'd check for some stickies in various forums for players coming back to FFXI.

Return home i think is still going on. Give SE a call asap. they added like a month.(you need your CP keys i think or if nothing else the last CC number and where you lived.

You can not just start it back up as anything over 6 months is taken off the servers(i think 6 months) You need return home and that happens for like 3 months out of the year.

so to answer, yes you can come back with your old account if you have the info and its that time of the year.

1) There is a chance that your character can be restored, but you're going to need some information identify your account and to prove it's really you. You would really have to call the playonline information center to get the details of what they need.

2) It's so much easier to level up now, that it would not take long for a fresh start to overtake your character from 5 years ago.

BTW it is currently the 7th anniversary of the game and the adventurer appreciation campaign is in progress. If you were to return before it ends on May 25th, you can talk to a moogle to get an Anniversary Ring. This item is basically worth 30,000 experience points, and you can only receive it once per year as part of the anniversary event.

The Return Home to Vana'diel campaign is NOT currently in progress. It ended around April. However, SE has significantly improved their account recovery capabilities over the years and I think this guy has a chance anyway.

Anyway, if the account cannot be recovered, I recommend starting a new character rather than waiting a very long time for Return Home campaign to start back up again.

Even if you have to start again I would say it's worth it.

I only started in late 2007 (RL friend of mine dragged me in) and I still enjoyed it. I meet people who were relatively new, and there are lots of people still looking to do missions.

As now most of the older content is well understood you can 'catch up' quite quickly.

In my short time I have done:
RoTZ done
ToAU done
2 jobs to 75
5/5 rdm relic, 2/5 on blm
got most of my sky gear (damn you w.legs... you will be mine one day),
46/51 assaults complete (captain by the end of the month)
chapter 5 of CoP (my biggest regret was not starting this sooner)

All thanks to people who were willing to help and meeting people who needed the same missions as me.

Yeah, basically if you take the time to poke around a little bit you will find how much easier things are on new players now.

hehe, yeah that was my little blm doing his af quest. I miss him so much. going to try to see what info i can find and give them a call. If worse comes to worse i read about this level sync thing, seems like grouping will be a lot less painful than it used to be.

yeah, last time I was here was right around COP time, we were still trying to do Promy-Dem before i left if i remember. I assume ToA was after CoP.

I think the person I spoke to on the phone told me that it doesn't matter how long its been since you played if you didn't delete content IDs and only canceled the content ID so you didn't have to pay anymore.

wont kill em to try^^ if this works GREAT! iv never had my IDs off for more then 4 months so i can not say. Just why SE would keep an account on their server that has been off for 5 years. Logic would say they clean up their servers and take stuff like this off it to keep it clean(and faster running)

I believe that Shuemue was asking for a source where SE claimed that they will announce it in a few weeks. The wiki article nor its references make similar statements.

There are internet rumors floating around for some time that SE will announce something about their next MMO at E3 and that's about it.

i know, and i was saying that if its not on wiki, it is a good bet that there is little reason to think that it is true.

SE is like the only people i know that can keep shit on the DL so long. Every game seems to have leaked info SE somehow keeps theirs lol.
