Tales games (in English) you should probably play:

Tales of Destiny 1 (unfortunately no one has translated the remake iirc)

Tales of Eternia (called, Tales of Eternia on PSP which is its correct title, it was called Tales of Destiny 2 when released in the US on PS1)

Tales of Symphonia (it's not exactly my favorite, but the noobs to the Tales series thought it was like their god or something)

Tales of the Abyss:
This will try your patience as the loading times on the world map are very, very heavy--but if you have a good enough processor/video card/ram you can emulate on PSCX 2 or w/e it's called and get past that... in my personal opinion this is the best Tales of- game. Great original story (and normally I don't give a fuck about story), amazing soundtrack, good characterization, and even a good dub. Yes, the dub is actually GOOD. And yes, bolded underlined for emphasis. Battles are great, Hi Ougis (mystic artes w/e) are great, length is great, everything is fucking awesome. Cannot speak enough about this game.

Tales of Phantasia (play the full voice edition on PS1, there's a translation patch available from Absolute Zero Translations)

Tales of Innocence (same dude/group as above is translating this and 'almost done', he'll probably finish sometime in September/October even if it's saying probably summer, but anyway... it's a DS game too)



fuck, I don't even know if Tales of Hearts is any good, I haven't bothered yet (but that's not going to be in english anyway unless someone translates it)

And you guys already mentioned Vesperia enough, and now that I think about it... it's kind of underwhelming compared to some of the other games except for its length and storytelling (hey, I thought it was ok), so it's probably a good place to start.

God, best fucking series ever, this shit blows Final Fantasy out of the water and hardly anyone has a goddamn clue, and I hope it stays that way so they don't start fucking shit up to please the masses.
