again, for the umpteenth time, I support the dems inasmuch that they're the closest to my views of the choices with a chance, and I find that occasionally they make progress in a direction I approve of, compared to the GOP, which is further from my views and basically never makes progress in a direction I approve of.

maybe having a duality of practically applied versus ideological views is too complicated for you to handle... but really just think about it; people do it all the time. You seem very principled about sexual identity and whatnot, yet somehow I don't think that stops you from sympathizing with gay (omg homosexuality isn't real, neither is heterosexuality!) rights movements nor do I think it would stop you from going to a gay bar.

Noam Chomsky is a very principled anarcho/libertarian-socialist, yet he still owns private property- zomg hypocrit! not a real socialist!... not really, some ideas simply don't have the proper environment to truly be realized. I'd hope you'd be able to appreciate that reality.

he and howard zinn were the editors of the Pentagon Papers, which blew the cover on the US's actions in not just Vietnam, but Laos and Cambodia.

chomsky's a pretty great historian; oddly it seems that his theories have fallen out of favor in linguistics.
