Just thought I'd poke the General crowd for some advice. There is this girl I met about a month ago through a coworker. Awesome girl, we share a lot of things in common. We've gone out a few times with some friends so I haven't really had much alone time with her. Here's the thing: I want to ask her out but I have no idea how to even approach girls anymore. I came out of a very long relationship last year and during that time with my ex I swear to Jebus I feel like I've completely lost my game. Should I be direct? Should I be more suave? Should I anonymously send her roses to her FB in hopes that she'll figure out they're from me? Is Chico gonna have to Chloroform a bitch?

Dont be afraid of a girl. She is just a person, dont be putting her on a pedestal. You already know what she likes, and what you like, so go do something yall both like to do or have interest in. This isnt hard.

Dimmy is right, 90% of guys think the same. You would be surprise how little girls are actually asked out straight up, they say yes more than you would think. Ever see a girl and wonder why she is with a dick or some total douche?

Its simply because he had the balls to approach her and merely asked her out. I mean worst case scenario she will politely say no and perhaps offer a reason. Atleast you can sleep knowing you gave it a shit. Nothing to be embarrassed about at all.

With that said I do realize that for some that is much easier said than done but trust me it works. I have not a shy bone in my body, I have been rejected but have been accepted much more often than getting the occasional "no". You just have to not be nervous and ask. Trust me, it doesn't happen as often as you thing and who knows, she may find it refreshing that a guy actually manned up and asked her out for dinner and a movie.

You have nothing to lose, for better or for worse it's happened to all of us. Don't look back and wonder hypothetically from afar what would happen here or what would happen there, you can do it. Even if she says no watch the confidence you have after you find out its not as bad as you imagined.

Invite her to join you while doing something but don't need her to be there. Asking a yes/no question is a bad idea, it's best to go with a statement or invitation.

Also movies are lame because you don't interact with the other person and it's really cliche. If you ask her to dinner and a movie you're just another boring guy, besides you sit there for almost 2 hours silent in a movie it's horrible for getting to know the other person. If, instead, you take her somewhere exciting or unique you can increase interaction and show her how exciting being with you can be.

Go against the grain, invite her out somewhere in the afternoon: lunch, amusement park, physical activity like biking or hiking, even walking outside at a local sightseeing spot, museums, concerts (my favorite), zoo, art gallery, malls/shopping, bookstore just anything casual where you can talk and have a good time. You don't need to pick just one activity either, you can jump around, take her on an adventure. Spending a lot of money is a bad idea though, because it makes her wonder if you're trying to win her over with money, so don't pay for everything and just keep it low cost for the first date. Make sure wherever you go it's in your element, where you're comfortable and/or know people, otherwise you'll just feel awkward and she'll sense that easy. The bonus to the afternoon date is when it gets to be late afternoon/evening you can extend the date and then grab dinner and a movie if you really must.

Oh yeah most importantly: It's your first date don't be too romantic or anything or you'll creep her out and it will be your last date with her. Focus on making sure you both have a good time.

Yeah same lol, I bowled in leagues growing up so my wife and I did that as well on one of our dates. Coincidentally that one date is when I actually bowled the last of my career high 279 games. She had watched me run and smoke people at track meets in college and what not so she knew I was athletic, but when I pulled that out of the bag is was over before it even started lol.

Listen to Dub, great advice man. I like the Scrabble and Dancing idea especially. Find out things she really really likes to do and plan your asking her out activites around that. Not to mention that asking her what she is into makes a really good icebreaker so you dont step to her and already know everything about her lol, that tends to come off as super creepy.
