I was in downtown Athens one night and left a bar with a ton of leftovers from a corporate event. I had probably 8 clear plastic boxes filled with fried chicken, brownies, and the works for my roommates and I to snack on for days. I had to go about 3 blocks to my car and of course I walked past probably every bum there. They all saw me and asked if I had any food to spare and couldn't be that big of a dick and say no as I held a feast in my hands. I think I ended up giving all but 2 of the boxes away.

Every other time I don't give money unless something extraordinary (ie kids). There is one guy in Athens that has no arms/legs but draws awesome pictures of UGA stuff with his mouth. I've purchased a few pieces of art from him though but usually lose them as I get drunk downtown.

there's this homeless guy whom always walks around the city, he's always walking. he has a place in an abandon home, but yea it's shit. So pacsun would have like 3 dollar shoe deals once in a while, so i got him like 5 pairs of shoes, and i'll say that mother fucker has the fliest shoes ive seen on a homeless guy i have seen.

i also give him my old close and stuff.

Was walking around Fenway Park yesterday in Boston when a bum asked me for spare change and when I said no went into a swearing tirade.

Come to think of it, it happened another time during a pubcrawl earlier in the weekend near Quincy Market.

Are all Boston bums such dicks?

I would actually say the majority of homeless people in downtown Minneapolis are white - but they usually just sit around Nicolette Mall with a sign asking for change. It's not as bad here as other cities, probably because of the climate.

With this said, almost every time I'm hit up for money, it's a black person. They want 50 cents or a dollar for the bus or whatever. I always say no. The most ridiculous is when they are wearing designer jeans and shoes and asking me for money. Their wardrobe costs more than mine and they want me to give them money? Get real.

Boston beggars are the worst. They'll fucking yell back at you if you don't give them money.

We had a LS meetup in Boston one year. We were walking around some park and some homeless guy asked our group of people, "Are there any angels around?". We ignored him and kept walking. About 5 second later you hear the guy screaming, "WELL I GUESS NOT!" along with a bunch of other shit at us. It totally fucking blew my mind.

Yeah, my friend and I walked out of a bar to grab a smoke on the sidewalk and this guy comes up asking for change, and I said "Sorry, no", and he proceeds to call me a liar and that I obviously had money because of the bar I walked out of.

My friend actually had his hand in his pocket to get out some change for the guy until he started going off on me and then changed his mind and decided not to give him anything for being such a tool.

a small glimpse of what homeless people go through (and I mean the real ones, not these 120 bucks a day kids):

the other week, a couple of our guards were heading to Tim Horton's for coffee and saw 3 guys in plaid shirts urinating on a homeless guy that sleeps in one of the transit shelters

at this point they had been too far to do anything and the guys took off, police were called and -- get this -- actually showed up, 5 minutes later; seems there had been a string of these occurrences over the past couple nights

Weird isn't it? I do see Hispanics trying to sell Fruit, or working in manuel labor jobs. And Black people usually sell Gold chains or watches. Or both might be selling illegal stuff. Asains usually have family to fall back on.

I wonder if its because minorites know people wont give them any money?

Or is it because White people dont know how to sell cheap items for money?

Or is it cause the Cops dont arrest White beggers?

I need to stop thinking about this stuff while I'm stuck in traffic and looking at these bums.

Usually minorities are the one who willing to work or sell whatever to support their family, even thought with little income. They will just do whatever work available.

But I don't think this can be apply on white?


But I'm not sure will this happen in states or not, in china, lots of homeless ppl over there are not homeless people, but they just hired by some company to pretend as homeless people to draw people's sympathy to give them money lol... and it seems that those people can earn quite lots of money per day

In Chicago in the neighborhoods (read: not downtown), a lot of the people on the street aren't homeless, but mentally ill or drug addicts who leave their nursing homes during the day (long story: no huge mentally ill institutions in the city, thus there are dozens of nursing/mentally ill/drug treatment homes in neighborhoods, causing huge problems for the neighborhoods. also these homes are for-profit, hence the people don't get appropriate treatment and get mismanaged). Most of them are harmless but they don't spend the money on anything essential.

I never give money, I'd rather donate to a charity and know my money will be used wisely.
