BRD casting macro, gearswap mid-song

Hi,

I'm looking for the right timing to macro switch from -song casting time body (manteel) to +skill body (minstrel's coat) for maximizing March tier while keeping -cast down. Anybody got one offhand?

It's for a skill+ gearset I'm currently working on. I finally got done with AF+1 legs (already have hands), so now I can finally put a set together that doesn't have a gaping hole in an important slot. Getting the Apollyon item for the legs took a lot longer than expected (now finally 2/100+ runs on Apollyon >.<).

I personally don't use the /wait 1 and instead have a <stpt> on the /song line to put the responsibility on myself to wait that 1 second. This makes sure I stop moving and don't get interrupted as well. It also makes the macros work easier with Pianissimo.

I actually have full gearset swaps macroed in and out, plus an entire additional macro book for Pianissimo (auto swap from main book and swap back afterwards, includes all etudes etc). Would also like to have a 'revert to idle set' line included once cast is finished, but not sure of the timing.

If I put cast time at the start, then swap to skill, what delay do I need if I want to add revert to idle (haste/dmg down)? ie

/equip -cast time gearswap
/wait 1
/equip skill set
/wait ??????
/equip idle set (wait time needs to be long enough so that song finishes before I equip)

I can figure this out for myself but if anyone know the answer it would save some aimless singing and gearswapping. Appreciate the help.

with minstrels ring, you can do 6-7

you ignored my other post though, spellcast is by far the best way to handle things like that <_<

I do exactly this, with <stpc>.

Also, if it helps, I macro my idle set into a generic target macro that I use on all jobs
/targenpc
/target <bt>
/equip idle stuff (Ok, this one is //exec brd/idle.txt)

That way I can manually switch to idle as soon as the buff icon appears at the top of your screen.

I didn't ignore it (it was very constructive advice), but I just assumed that Windower macros would do a similar job. Looks like I was mistaken.

honestly why even wry about the 3 skill your prob not going to be breaking any major caps with minstrels body doing stuff where you would be wearing manteel anyway, and in burn situations nightengale will speed casting time up enuff.

March works in tiers, so if you are at a point where +3 skill puts you into the next tier, that is an extra 1/1024 haste (about 0.1% haste) on your victory march.

Sounds insignificant but since haste has exponentially increasing returns, 0.1% haste is nothing to ignore.

Edit: And besides, this is a game where people pay millions of gil for that whiteboxed item with 1 more STR or attack.

Ya, it's part of a skill set. Add skill in every slot, and eventually it adds up to a lot.

In this case, the 3 skill does indeed break a March tier in my setup, so it's worth it. Start casting in the manteel, finish in the coat, get the benefits of both.

Also note that Nightingale only affects cast time and is only meritable to q10min max, it's great for specific situations but does not alter song potency/tiers.

true if you need the three to put you at it sure, but in my experience i was able to hit the 507 skill without is why im mentioning. next cap over that you need relic horn to hit iirc, i always followed that combined skill test the guy did on here XD.

Adding coat breaks 519 tier in my setup (gets me to 520). Tiers seem to be 506 513 519 526 533 540 etc to cap at 566, at least I think that's how it works. Relic would be needed for the highest values but I don't have one (wish I did).

wow thats way more updated than the old list, i remember it being 506/507 broke a tier, than the next was 554 or somethin, thx for the link though, too bad my brd is banned now though lol
