Account hacked through authenticator

Fail, thats all i have to say.

Sisters account got compromised, password was invalid and it says my email is wrong when trying to reset.

Got a GM to lock it, although I don't think whoever stole it can log on anyway without authenticator, still lame though. idk how this shit happens, it's happened to her before... and I recieved no emails saying that the pass/email was changed which is the gayest part.

Frozen, and hopefully can restore on monday...

I've heard of people hacking via merging their own Battle.net accounts to accounts they don't even own and circumventing the authenticator system that way. It's the reason I linked mine right away upon hearing things like that. As long as your sis has a valid ID the account will be returned to her and if it hasn't been linked to a Battle.net account, to do so already. The whole Battle.net thing is ehhh whyyyy but eventually Blizzard is going to push heavily for everyone to do it.

Just called Blizzard and got the account back.

The "hackers" or whatever you wanna call it, were able to change email/password, but because of the authenticator which you guys are hating on, they were unable to login. All items and gold are still on the account, which can sometimes take days to get restored. Characters could not be transferred off either because of it.

Guy on the phone told me to merge it with Battle.net, my other account is already, but by doing so this account gets a new email address (which is unchangable) and a new SQ/A, not to mention login name - so it probably wont happen again and if it does it wouldn't get as far or be as difficult to overturn.

I've had this happen before, it's weird, always happens on a saturday when I cant call blizzard till monday.

For the record FF/No script is used, and shady websites aren't visited, just got unlucky with an easier SQ/A I think and an email that I believe was keylogged a year or 2 ago.

Yeah, you just have to wait a few days to a week.

Oh and it's especially fun if they transfer your characters off your account, as blizzard wont reverse that in most cases... so have fun on your new server with your temp ban and waiting to get items restored.

I'll take my 6.50 one time fee to protect the account thanks.

when I was hacked once, my account had actually gotten banned. i had to fax my drivers license and a bunch of info to blizzard and have my file transferred to a different department. i've also seen a lot of ppl get hacked since wrath was released for some reason so getting an authen isn't a bad idea at all

like I said, they were able to change email/pass, but COULD NOT log on because of the authenticator. So no way for items to get vendored/whatever, no way for them to transfer the chars, basically saved me a lot of the extra trouble that comes with this type of thing.
