If anderson was an actual light heavyweight I could see them fighting but it won't happen as long as his 205 pound fights are just for the show/superfights. He already has a title so he won't be super hungry for a 205 title as long as lyoto is the champ.

In the world of boxing and MMA, "never" is only until the next contract offer. I'd like to wax nostalgic about good friends and good times, but if given the right opportunity I'd bet they'll fight - and if Silva beats Forrest, and Machida beats Rampage and, say, Shogun, it's the fight -everyone- will want to see.

That's a lot of 'ifs' though - the 205 belt trades hands more often than the suitcase in Pulp Fiction.
while i'd agree with you on most fighters...i really don't think anything would make those two fight that is a realistic option. i would like to think shogun is back to normal...lil nog is a waste of a roster spot realistically. overeem would be a nice addition...i think fedor will eventually sign with the ufc, but it may be too late for anyone to care.

guys they are members of the same camp, members of the same camp do not fight each other except for rare circumstances (i.e tuf, pride GP).

Its funny how people dont know how fight against a Karate stance, and a southpaw. I absolutely love Lyoto's style and his post fight quote “karate is back”.

It's interesting how every other weight class seems to have guys that are hardcore wrestlers first, and then learn to fight - but at 205 you never really seem to find the takedown mat-hugging fights, it's so much standup brawling.

That ends now...Mark Coleman will be fighting at 205 from now until someone drags his corpse out of the cage.

hahahahhaaomfg!!! so true! He even knows he is over the hill, if he wins a match he will be so surprised that we will see pt.2 of the reaction of the first gp finals.

UFC still needs Tomato Cans. Someone had to replace Ken Shamrock.

The entire LHW divison seems to be on the "ageing and on the way out" train except shogun, rashad and lyoto. Rampage is in between the youngsters and those on the way out.

I think barring a freak result Lyoto is going to have a nice long reign.

The only result that dissapointed me was Pat Barry losing, he needs to really work on his jiu jitsu and clinch game bigtime.

Frankie Edgar looked phenomenal vs sherk, I'd love to see him fight Penn, his standup seems good enough and he hopefully has solid enough wrestling to stuff penns takedowns which is the only legit area of concern for him.

That said I hope Penn gets KTFO'd vs florian and we dont have to see him fight ever again.

indeed. there is a great opportunity for middle of the road fighters to make a living in the sport and not ever really be title contenders. that being said...i really don't ever wanna see coleman fight again. it is weird that 205 used to be the most stacked division in the ufc and now it's fairly weak.

I disagree with this statement. The UFC holds every top 10 205er out there, except for maybe Rogerio and arguably Babalu. I don't see how you think that division is weak.

you misunderstand me. i am not saying the UFC's 205 division is weak...i'm saying the weight class is pretty weak right now. the UFC has all the real top guys at 205...there just isn't that much exciting going on at 205 at the moment. it seems that the lighter divisions are getting really strong (esp 170+185) and the heavier divisions are falling off. i would love to see mirko drop to 205 and fight...but he has said repeatedly that it won't happen. maybe vera will re-emerge as a contender at 205, maybe shogun is back to form, maybe lil nog will get back in form and sign with UFC. i would LOVE to see fighters weigh in the morning of the fights instead of the night before, would make a lot of guys switch up weight classes and speaking as a fighter...would be a lot nicer on my body. lol

I think 205 is still one of the most exciting and contender rich divisions.

Well we have seen alot from the 205 weight class in the past 2 years since pride and ufc interjoined. We have seen a string of awesome matches and when you have to put so much top competition against one another to create a huge bang like we have seen of course it will fizzle out. However, I believe we have alot more in store with shogun, rampage, lyoto, hendo, silva, franklin, evans, not liddell, kristof, jardine, so on and so forth. I think the final bang will come when we see rampage fight lyoto and then shogun fight both of them (hopefully). There still a little bit of kick left in this division but future growth will be dependent on new talent which of course will come. It has been an exciting time since pride interjoined and we have yet to see the culmination of it till we see what happens with rashad, shogun, rampage, lyoto.

i'm up in the air about shogun his last match vs liddel was ok, but he has looked like shit since he joined the ufc. I'll need to some some shit out of him to think of him as a contender atm
