Banana locking, banana tossing, everything banana related is relatively easy to do. After playing a character for so long, you have mental images of how your attack and physics of your char weight trajectory will occur whenever a situation arises. That said, nanners are the LAST thing I buffer when I practice Diddy. Last night I was watching (via live stream) of AZ vs. some TL. AZ was fucking kickass with his nanners, until TL got control of him. As soon as that happened, AZ's game went to hell and he was getting juggled like a motherfucker. I like think to there's match-ups where Snake doesn't rely (or it hinders his overall performance) on Nades, and I feel that's the same scenario for Diddy. I guess I just think differently
Eh it's slightly different I think. With diddy all it takes to recontrol the situation once nanerz are taken out of play is realize what the opponent plans on doing with them. If he plans on aggressing with them you can just catch them with one of a fuckton of attacks, hell you can just press R and A out of a short hop and throw it right back in their face without missing a beat. If they throw them away then whatever, diddy's up close game is pretty damn good so if you cant manage to land a tilt or a grab to recenter the situation then that's on you. There ARE matchups where the actual act of pulling a nade more often than not is a hindrance BECAUSE snake is so godawfully retard strong up close, but I honestly cant think of a situation where diddy is worse off for pulling a banana out as long as they have proper decision making skills. Nevermind the fact that pulling out a banana causes diddy to be able to essentially wave dash, punish any aggressive or defensive action, and start an attack out of his standing shield position and it has no timer as long as it's in your hand.
There are match-ups (Snake vs. Diddy) where approaching with a nanner is about the only safe thing you can possibly do. Match-ups like Diddy vs. IC are also examples of "nanner lock or DIE" situations, much like vs. Olimar where they completely rape you unless you play gay. But there are fights where being straight-out aggressive is more helpful than predictable. Wario is tough as fuck to land a nanner combo simply because he's never on the ground. He can also grab nanners with relative ease and use them on you (or just keep them away), so typically I play with just one nanner and play patient. Match-ups like Ike is GREAT to be melee only because FUCK THAT SHIT WHEN THEY NANNER YOU. A dacus nanner throw -> ftilt @ 90% is completely unpredictable and witty, and I hate risking that chance. There are fights where simply melee'ing (Pikachu or Ike comes to mind) them is great because you genuinely have more/better options, and using Nanners start to become more the icing on the cake than anything else. All I'm saying is a great Diddy player can play nanner-less and hold his own, EXCEPT for some crazy bad match-ups.
I dunno I haven't had a diddy decimate my ike with bananas in a while, both NL and ADHD are stuck to more "kick you in the face" situations so yeah I can see your point on that. I'd rather go ike against wario, fuck that.
All seras shut the hell up
yeah i think hes gonna be pretty mad about that image
I've chosen not to react.
