Question about ordinance violations

hey guys, quick question: just got back from a friend's place, had a few beers, made some steaks, watched a Coen brothers movie. my friend and i take a beer for the walk back to the T, and end up passing by some cops who pull up to us, ask us to put the beers down on the ground, one of the guys was friendly enough, long story short we end up getting ordinance violations for $200, 1 for each of us. nothing about being a minor on here, just "drinking alcohol in public" under the Offense section. am i in the books now or something? i've never been arrested or had a run-in with the cops before so idk how it works. idc about the $200, i just dont want a record or anything gay like that.

oh, my big question which i forgot: will it show up on a CORI form that was filled out like, may 7th? i turn 21 in a month so i cant see this being a big deal

It will not show up on a CORI form....

Pay the fine on time, and you will be fine.

If you do not pay the fine by the deadline, the courts can issue a warrant for your arrest and then it will show up on a CORI check.

Yeah, bear in mind that you can only drink alcohol in a public place if it has a license to serve(read: serve =/= sell).

Public streets would be one place not having such a license.

I can understand laws forbidding being drunk in public, as that could create a dangerous situation. Like drunk guys running down the middle of the road. But laws that forbid the simple consumption of alcohol in public places? That's ridiculous. Frankly it's laws like these (in combination with the ridiculous legal age to drink) that create such rampant alcoholism in this country. And don't even get me started on the stupidity of "blue laws." If people stopped making such a big fucking deal about it, we'd all be a lot better off. It's a culture thing, not a substance thing.

I love beer just as much as the next guy, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Drink in the bar, at home, or if you go camping. Public intoxication creates a trash problem and a behavioral problem, hence why it's illegal.

Go take a ride along with your local police department some day, get the area with a high level of intoxications/bars/homeless.... and more than likely your opinion will change a tad.

You have a stance on how you agree that being drunk in public creates a dangerous situation, so you have no problem on being drunk in public continuing to be illegal. However, in order to be drunk in public.... you need to start drinking. So the idea of being able to legally drink in public, would be a step in the wrong direction.
