So what again are North Korea's motives for attacking South Korea/Japan/America, when the result is inevitably sucide? They want to stay in power; they want to keep western influence out of Noth Korea. By being a threat, they can trade, or get aided, on their own terms and won't have to risk more outside influence weakening the party.

I'd suggest that is their motivation for their actions, rather than a wish to end their existence and take as many with them as possible. They won't attack anyone if they have nothing to gain and something to lose.

It's not like glassing them is an option even if you totally neglect the humanitarian aspects. China want a stable North Korea; there would be millions of refugees and they don't want to deal with another poor minority group. And obviously South Korea would suffer devestating consequences from the response, with Seoul being a bike ride from the North Korean border.

The only ones who want this shit are paranoid, unintelligent americans and losers who try to compsensate for their lack of harmony by taking joy in other people's suffering, "for the lulz".

Beckwin, dude, don't underestimate the U.S. military, especially with 100% support from China, let alone the entirety of Europe, South America, Australia, Russia, China, and Canada.

The rate at which even the first gulf war went from a severe threat on the entirety of the region to Hussein killing his own men in a "what the fuck how could you get so unbelievably owned" moment was mind boggling enough, even now.

The rate at which the 2nd went from them supposedly having nukes to "wouldn't mean shit if they did" was even more so.

With the advancement to the point things are at now, it could quite possibly literally be

KJI: "OH SHIT WE GOT HIT! PUSH THE BUTTON!"

other guy: "BUTTON PUSHED OH GREAT LORD AND MASTER SIR"

KJI: "WTF WHY DID NOTHING HAPPEN?!?!"

    Israel: "AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!"

In all seriousness, the likelihood of them having the capability to do significant damage if the rest of the world strikes first is virtually nil, their communication and command capabilities will be out before they realize the hit is on. Our military capabilities really are getting into sci-fi movie quality swift and smoothness with literally unbelievable precision.

That's really what makes him so obviously insane, as there would be no "down in a blaze of glory," or whatever he's trying to portray. The people that need to be dead and the places that need to be blown the fuck up would be, and before they could even communicate to consider some kind of reaction.

The concern for another quagmire like Iraq is there, especially as lost as the North Korean people are, but throwing out an arbitrary huge number, let alone one in the millions, let alone 20 million, is pretty much laughable...

Unless, of course, we wait and wait and he gets tired of egging us on and just shoots one day...

Seno: "blockade" is definitely a change of tune from "glass 'em", so I'm glad that you're exiting trollville and starting to be more reasonable.

And above all, even accepting the possibility of super-awesome Team America fuckyeah 0 allied casualties going on, N. Koreans are people too and it's only a small handful of them that deserve a bomb to the face. We should take that into the foremost consideration when talking about "putting them in their place" or whatever machismo laden phrases you want to throw around just because yet another non-friendly country has nukes.

As a side note: I've notice increased fighter jet activity in the past couple days >_> there's an air base in my town, then some in Seoul and another major one about 20 minutes south of me (Osan Air Base in Pyongtaek).

I don't think NK will really invade because it will effectively put an end to Kim's rule once and for all, and he's not stupid enough to jeopardize his autocracy for some piss contest with the US. This is most likely saber-rattling aimed to solidify his rule in NK and not meant to materialize as an outright aggression in the form of conventional war.

I will still have contingency planned if I were you though, beckwin.

They are threatening military action for simply searching a ship. the longer we let them continue to make their shit the worse this is going to get. considering how big NK is in the weapons market it will get to the point were they can literally do anything and military action will be out of the question because they have WMDs. fuck that. End this shit quick.

While you have all sorts of wonderful comments why aggression is wrong, you still haven't given an answer of what to do.

Diplomacy in the normal fashion with NK is over.

You keep saying there is still diplomacy left while even SK has joined the US on the position of boarding ships in and out of NK. NK left the 6 country talks a while ago and isn't coming back; you don't get to have diplomacy when the other side is sticking their fingers in their ears.

Also, last page you compared cold war Russia to NK which is a serious mistake: NK has nothing even close to lose than Russia did during the cold war. Not to mention KJI isn't a rational person right now while the Soviet leadership was. Not to mention the world was full of proxy wars between USSR and US during the cold war.

The best option is for China or Russia to bomb the NK nuclear reactor before they make too much more fissile material, then blockade all ships and planes leaving the country and close all foreign bank accounts. Discontinue all monetary aid and only send basic food.

They wouldn't be so concerned about us boarding the ships if they weren't full of arms. NK is gearing up for war, let's stop them now.

If this postpones the NA release of Aion I'm gonna fly over there and kick their bitch ass myself.

They have such a wonderful reputation with keeping treaties so far. Maybe we should just blow it off as a false news report.

having been on the other side of that border and seeing that artillery, i'll take your uninformed troll bait. we would have disabled all of those and any other long range threats before they even knew what happened. you really underestimate the whole world's military might and strategy.

To do Puerto Rico's cheap labour. Oh, and pop out babies like there's no tomorrow. So that's probably what NK does for SK.

The eventual costs to modernize NK by SK will eclipse any potential benefits of cheap labor. Germany was a great example. West Germany spent billions to rebuild East Germany and it took decades to offset the disparity in living standards between the two halves. NK could only be worse than East Germany. And that's to assume that the infrastructure of SK will survive in a potential war with NK. If its economy gets destroyed in the process, the entire country will be pushed back 30 years if not more.

NK will lose the war for sure, but nothing can stop it from leveling seoul.

I think we forswear preemptive strike with nukes, but we do preemptive strike with conventional ICBMs if it's the only course of action. Getting all 4-5 nations to unilaterally attack one nation is highly unlikely though.

I just don't think that China/US/Russia are willing to make a first strike that was not in response to a declaration of war/attack on another nation's forces.

If 4-5 nations were to simultaneously attack, then I think NK only has two options:

    1) Surrender (lol yea right)
    2) Go out with a bang. (Likely scenario)
