I don't know what the fuck any of this food is. brb google
Plátanos are god's most perfect food, the rest of it is slop in comparison
What the fuck is it already.
I can't say I'm a big fan of bananas or anything like them but who knows.
Oh, deep fried plantain?
i don't use a deep fryer to make them but yeah I guess you could, i just fry em in a pan
I've had those with some kinda roasted chicken at some little restaurant somewhere. They were good, a little filling, but pretty good. I give them a 7.5/10
I deep fried a banana once when I was 14.
ugh
I should buy some plantains and atone for my sins.
if you wanna save some time (and save a huge mess,) you can first cut off the ends and boil the thicker part of the plátano just until the skin turns brown. It is important that you remove them immediately when most of the skin had just turned brown.
Cut a slit that barely reaches the plátano inside and the skin easily comes off. If the skin did not easily come off, you doin it rong dawg, but it's ok.
You are now left with the bare plátano.
Slice it to about 1-1.5 inches in length so they look like really thick silver dollars.
Put enough (Mazola cuz hispanics can't cook with any other kind) oil into the frying pan until it's about a quater inch thick. You can use veggie or canola oil for this.
Set the stove top at two notches past medium. If medium is 5, then use 7. If you've never made a bunch of them at once, and it's your first time, I'm gonna suggest you start with one so you get a feel for it, and then you can make more at the same time faster if you wish. You may add the plátanos now.
The plátano slices will start frying pretty quickly (<1min) and will turn yellow one the first side after 2 minutes. Flip them over immediately with a fork (since it's easy and you shouldn't burn yourself >_>.)
Just when you see that both sides are yellow with little signs of brown, take them out and flatten them. You can use this to do so and put the slice back into the frying pan to finish frying:

It's called a tostonera (because we're making what's commonly known as tostones!) If you don't have one, you can use the bottom of a china cup, but a tostonera is more consistent.
Remember it's gonna be hot, but taste one (with salt or ketchup, up to you) to see if it's pretty crispy and golden/brown to your liking. You may remove the ones that are the same color or darker since they are ready onto a plate with a napkin.
Salt to your liking or ketchup and enjoy.
This is getting done sometime soon.
Oh my Tostones. <3 Never had them with ketchup.. Going to have to try that. : x
Not a fan of plátanos any other way though~
PS This is coming from a woman who not only did not know that a plantain and platanos were the exact same thing until she was like 20 but needed phone confirmation to make sure she wasn't wrong.
