I've been a member of GameFly for over 2+ years

Some have already stated how to setup your queue.

Start putting games very early, I had GOW III for almost 8+ months in my list

I have the 3 game plan for $30 + tax. I play games on a cycle, while I'm playing 1-2 games the other is being sent back, and new one being received (turnaround is 5-7 days for me)
So I get an endless supply of games

Last year I got 50+ games from GameFly, I spent a total of $400 for the year, so I saved a whopping $2400 if I bought all those 50 $60 games.

    My list right now:

I have Bayonetta out right now, so 2 games are freed up. I just finished Darksiders + Dark Void (Both Platinumed). Playing through Bayonetta at the moment, I'll be receiving WKC soon which I'll buy, it will only cost me $40 to keep due to 10% discount + $5 coupon, then BioShock 2 + Dante's Inferno comes out to me, while I'll be sending Bayonetta back, and getting ready for Heavy Rain. As you can see my cycle is set to have games finish and get new ones with-in a week.
(The huge gaps between months = I fill in games that are in high availability + trophy ready)

The game sales + coupon deals help too on GameFly.

I got Borderlands for $30, hell I got Damnation (horrible game, but I'm a trophy whore) for $3 for the PS3. It was on sale for $7.00, I had a $5 coupon, so $2 + tax heh

I just missed out on getting Bionic Commando for PS3 for $6.99 =/
They have GhostBusters for sale @ $11.99

It is worth it to me have GameFly, I have never taken a game yet (telling GF I never got the game, even though you did), and only lost 2 games when I was sent them back (Orange Box + Ferrari Challenge PS3).

I <3 GF when they do there clearance sales, I got Fear 2, Far Cry 2, Shaun White Snowboarding, Borderlands, and Tomb Raider: UnderWorld all together for $50.00, they even gave me a $10 coupon to use, so it wasn't that bad

Since having this since creating this topic, I love it. It's pretty easy to time your returns right to get new releases. And the more systems you have, the better off you are. The amount of money I've already saved from gamfly-ing these games instead of buying them is already pretty substantial.

So signed up for it, and what exactly is the trick to get new ones? just only have new ones in the queue?

Pretty much. Just have 1 game in the queue, the one you want. Might not get it straight away, but you'll be in the priority.

ok. some games I plan to buy and play long term, but I have like 7 or so through december that I want to play without spending 60 bucks so I queued them all up. assuming a game comes out tuesday when would the previous game need to be mailed back the week before, at a guess? thursday or friday? or earlier or what

I would do it earlier the first few times just to test the timing. Whatever happens you need to make sure there is an empty slot going into the Monday before a game typically releases. They start shipping the new games on a Monday and they're usually gone by the end of the day. If the game you're returning shows up on Monday it was be too late to get it processed and get the new game.

Depends on your location. After a while you'll know how long it takes for them to send/receive games. To my location, they would take roughly 3 days to receive the games after I send them in the mail, and I would take 2 days to receive them after they ship the next game out to me. So it would take roughly 6 days to get a new game. Fast Return rarely kicked in for me, but did sometimes.

Unlike Netflix, they won't ship the next game until they receive the game you send them back (this is what the FastReturn service is supposed to do). If you want to get a game shipped on its release date, make sure they receive the game you have a few days before it releases just to be sure.

Just depends on where you live in relation to a shipping location. I can send a game in on Monday and I'll have the next game by Thursday at the latest, but typically Wednesday, and I live an hour away from Pittsburgh.

Also in my experience it seems like once you're a member for a little while, shipping seems to be faster, not sure if that's been the same for anyone else.

I've had quite a few games get sent out before the first one got to Gamefly. In order to get Fast Return to kick in though you pretty much have to mail directly from a post office.

I still have varying turnarounds, well not so much turnaround time but receiving time I guess. Mailed Resonance of Fate back on a Friday and they got it on Monday. Normally for me it is 5 or so business days from the time i send it to the time they "get" it. As far as new titles, this time I kind of forgot about my Queue and by the time the got my game Mafia II had been out a couple days. That said, with both the 360 and PS3 version at Low Avail. in my queue, they just sent the PS3 version out today. So 4-5 days interim time with those being the only games that are released in my queue.

Time it right, try to make sure that you have future releases in your queue as far ahead as you can remember (I actually use my queue as a release calendar of sorts) and you should get what you are aiming for 4 out of 5 times, and relatively quickly.

    erm.. the trick is simple

Remove every single game from your list that isn't the one you want.

They then send it to you within a couple of days.. even with a low setting.

Its the only way I've been able to get them to consistently send me what I want.

    Back to original topic:

I've used gamefly for 4+ years.. decent service... crazy freaking slow.

I just sent out a game last saturday.. they finally received it this friday.. I wont see it until middle of next week I'm betting.

Sometimes that kind of stuff is enough to make me seriously consider quitting.. most of the time though Its... okay... if just barely.

the way I see it, since I tend to buy too many games and rarely replay, even if I only average 1 game every 3 months I'm saving money, and odds are it will be a lot higher than that, so even if the total process is like 2-3 weeks to get game, play it, get next game, still a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of new games

One thing I found during my time with Gamefly was that if games take longer than a week to ship to you, even 1 day longer, you can report it to them and their basic reply to this is to send you out another game in your queue free so you're essentially getting an extra game. I usually only did the 2 game rental plan, but I almost always had 3 since most games took about 8 days to ship to me and I lived in the upper-midwest.
