    Mental

    I did a search and did not see a thread about this but has anyone seen the description for the new show on fox called Mental?

    Series pilot tonight on fox. It looks like it could be interesting but at the same time the description reads like it is basically House but with a psychiatrist instead of a diagnostician.

    It starts in about 1 hour Pacific time.

    After watching the show, it's just stupid. It's nothing more than House with more elaborate patients and an excuse to use CGI effects.

    Just watched the pilot. I thought it was ok

    nothing is ever original anymore.

    Step 1: Find a mediocre screen actor preferably someone who isn't too famous. It could also be someone who is washed up.
    Step 2: Make him into a mad genius/asshole with axe to grind/Witty dry humor guy/Serious as a heart attack guy. (if applicable)He also has to have a quick wit and be able to insult anyone at the drop of a hat.
    Step 3: Fill out the rest of the supporting casts with Mediocre character actors/Young up and coming actors.
    Step 4: ????
    Step 5: Profit


    Now apply that to all the CSI's/Monk/Life/House/Stargates/BSG's/whathaveyous and you got a hit.


    Bottom line is if its entertaining or not. This show has potential.


    But that's where the problem lies. Primetime shows are no place for shows with potential which is why so many shows fail before they can take off.

    Considering he wasn't well known outside the UK before House. Yeah I can say he was.

    The story is basically House without House, in a mental hospital. I agree though, it does seem low quality. Just the production quality seems sub par.
