A PS3 version would be capable of using the PS3 hardware instead of using some pisspoor PS2 hardware.

With the 60gig PS3 you can play FFXI for the PS2 on it right? I got my PS3 in the UK and they don't sell FFXI for the PS2 here, only PC. Could I buy an NA copy online and play it on my PS3?
Getting a bit sick of keyboard and mouse. Would be nice to use a controler and not have my noisy ass PC on.

NA PS2 games will not work on a EU PS3.

Just get a PS2 to USB converter and buy quieter fans for your PC.

The PAL PS3s with backward compatibility are software emulated. They do not contain an Emotion Engine, therefore they will not run FFXI at all.

PS3 is only regionless for PS3 games. It still enforces the region lock on PS1 and PS2 games. SInce there is no PAL release of PS2 FFXI, you can't play it on a PAL PS3.

You can use a controller on a PC, There are plenty of USB controllers or USB converters for console controllers out there. The noise of your PC depends on the fans you have installed in it. They've got many near-silent PC fans on the market now, if you bother to get and install them. I'm currently using a PS2 controller on my PC with a SUper Joy Box 5 Pro, though I do prefer to play on PS2 for stability, and because my PC is never just running FFXI. My current ISP doesn't work with the PS2 version though.

i doubt the xbox360 can lag more than that emulated PS3. Whenever buffs go off, my framerate drops horribly. last einherjar, my shell used 2hrs on the demons for the chair guy, and i was getting 1 frame every 5 seconds.

Were you guys not reading the thread? Can you not read enough to see there's no mention of PS3 at all on the scans? There is nothing there that mentions anything but the 7th anniversary of FFXI. There is nothing mentioning a PS3 version.

well, technically you can install the Linux OS on a PS3, and then install and run windows 95/98/xp/vista through that, but from what i have been told it runs like shit. guy did this and runs starcraft on ps3, but again, looks and runs like shit

Man this would be pimp if it ran well. I'm afraid if FFXI gets upgraded graphics I'll have to actually get a gaming PC to support it instead of just using my iMac with bootcamp which works fantastic right now. Not that I'm really worried about FFXI getting upgraded graphics any time soon...

Suuure. A 7 year old game, running with the same graphics on PC since it started and a Xbox 360 version that was ported from PC in like 15 minutes. But they will totally enhance it when bringing it on PS3! Because PS3 is the most sold console platform on earth.
