Voted "Other". Fucking fix Absolute Virtue.

world transfer
Other then speed hacking, you could create bots to help with controls of the bird, or abuse connection speeds to have better response time then others with weaker connections. Where there's a will, there's a way, and don't fool yourself into thinking that people wouldn't find a way to cheat the system.
If you increase your speed 1-2% at key times you dramatically reduce your chances of getting caught while increasing your chances to win. If you run around with 50+% flee speeds of course you'll get nailed, but doing it in smaller percentages for short bursts can easily be covered up by blaming lag or connection issues. Especially if done against AI racers who won't be able to call a GM on you after losing.
What is wrong with world transfers?
Chocobo Racing could have been turn base. Really doesn't matter though. It is annoying to reach the "fun" part anyway.
Gotta go with the Auction House. They could've done so much more with it and it's received such minor attention over the years.
Close second is Mog House.
Wow, no ATNM Test?
PS2 limitations
AV.
Voted for Chocobo Racing. It was the biggest "let down" for me, and I know we (or I did) had high hopes for Chocobo Racing because of FF7.
Never been a fan of PvP or Pokemon, so those weren't a "let down" to me. But obviously alot of those listed are failures![]()
Went with chocobo racing.
Before it came out, I was expecting something like this:
-You (and other players) each select an initial strategy like "sprint right away" or "steady pace" or "conserve energy" - this is the one part I was right about.
-The race starts, and immediately each player is given another choice about what to do next. Choices would be like "use item", "try to get to the inside", "sprint", etc. Players must make a choice by the time the chocobos reach the first turn. Otherwise, a default "keep pace" option is used.
-The players are each given another choice, which they must make by the 2nd turn.
-Same for 3rd turn
-Same for final stretch.
Instead, you just watch the cutscenes with no interaction at all. Lame.
I voted for chocobo racing too... they should make it PC controlled. I know lag would be an issue but hey there is Mario kart for Wii that is online and im sure people play just fine racing each other in that, who cares about winning most times the racing part itself is fun as a mini-game. Also with the items you could use, like in mario kart, it wouldn't provide the person with the best internet connection that much of a boost because he/she would always be the target for those items. Not too familiar with chocobo hot and cold because I really hate chocobo raising.. its boring lol, is that similiar to ff9? if so would be a ton of fun.
Unless you were actually one of us that was there, and actually experienced the fucking mind boggling level of fail in killing Tiamat and seeing a fucking fire crystal and absolutely nothing else, you really have no business complaining about Grand Wyrms. And, of course, that issue was fixed.
You can bitch a little about Jimmy's "unique" drops being a joke staff and a drg/war solo body, but he still has horns, and Vrtra and Timmy's drops are downright game changing levels of overpoweredness for certain jobs.
Also, how does a thread about massive failures in ffxi get to page 3 with no interest of the damned interface?
We got Beetle Blood today. Not even a Fire Crystal.
Edit:
Wtf is Vrtra's "game changing piece? Fucking manteel?and Vrtra and Timmy's drops are downright game changing levels of overpoweredness for certain jobs.
Fucking borken piece gives 2% fastcast on songs over an assault body! OMFG BROKEN
Oh yea? i'll see your beetle blood and raise you an OXblood! no, not even a crystal just that lonely little old blood. however she at least droped us a divine log the next fight.
Very generous that dragon is..(this was sometime ago btw)
By fa Pakatron, that crap lasted like a few weeks and died, SE knew better then to give an event that just gave nothing in return (speaking before ZNMs were implemented because that's the only thing it is good for now)
oh yea and needing assualt points for salvage making you choose between salvage and nyzul (easily at least)
Everything listed in the poll seems like a failure to me. But there are people out there who love those events, Linkshells dedicated to them and what not. I think they were simply SE attempts to broaden the scope of the game but they never really quite garnered much attention.
I thought they made Timmy drop at least 1 of horn, gloves, and gaiters, guess I was wrong, been a loooong damn time.
As mentioned, manteel was waaaay before yigit, not to mention it's 2% casting speed, 2% haste, 7 char, and a bit of mp over yigit.Edit:
Wtf is Vrtra's "game changing piece? Fucking manteel?
Fucking borken piece gives 2% fastcast on songs over an assault body! OMFG BROKEN
Plus, manteel could be -50 all stats, and if you put it on a galka it's still the best piece of gear in the game.
Other: (forgive me if I repeated other posts)
Being as this was probably the first ever MMO for I want to say 60% of the US/UK player base, it shouldn't have been that hardcore of a MMO. Personally, I didn't know what I was getting into when I first started and downtime was a huge issue with me when I only had enough time to get 7-10 hours a week of time in.
Different Release dates was another big issue. JP players had at least a 2 year head start, PC players had a full year, and Ps2 players (who should have had their own sever) had a major disadvantage compared to everyone else.
Economy issues really pissed me off too. I've been around the MMO loop now and I've never seen another game where mobs didn't drop some amount of money no matter how minuscule. Vendors were too expensive, and the Auction House was too unreliable in certain aspects. RMT pushed it to a major extreme, but there were problems I've seen since the Ps2 release.
Unbalanced Jobs causing favoritism, promoting elitism and overall laziness. Ever been a PLD counting the rocks in Jeuno while your NIN buddy shoots 10 levels in a week? Ever busted your ass to get all the Prime Avatars on another job only to cure bomb as a SMN? Ever been a DRK and got told not to use Souleater? Ever tried to tank as a WAR/MNK post 75 and got rejected because the WHM (who only partied with NIN) claimed you were a MP sink? Ever seen a party being formed through the search function only to be rejected because the BRD said so? Need I say more...
Parsing, full knowledge on stats, and what job had better potential over another job killing the overall experience. I want to play a job, because it's fun, not because it's better than another job. Now that people can back up that this job is better than that, it kills the fun like peeking at a present before Christmas. Anyone that says LolPUP, LolDRG, LolCOR... ect and really means it needs to realize that this was supposed to be a team based game.
There's more, but typing this shit out is stirring up some bad memories so I'll just stop here.
