The billions of humans who lived before fancypants sunglasses and didn't go blind are on line one, they have a lot of useless shit they want to sell you.

I'm not making some asinine argument against material things or anything that dumb. I'm just pointing out that the idea that you need these things to protect your eyes is a fucking myth. If you wanna look good, then go for it. But you can do the same thing with knockoffs and spend the rest of your cash on hookers and blow. Your retinas won't melt, I promise.

i walked into the mall the other day to find a pair, walked into some sunglass store

i then walked to one of those little huts in the middle of the mall, picked up a pair that looked very close to what it was for 12 bucks. I simply think its retarded to spend any more than 20 bucks on a pair of sunglasses. They'll last just as long if you want to take care of them and your not a douche

Cheap sunglasses are cheap. They are much more likely to shatter and cause injury in an accident. You get what you pay for and I prefer not to lose an eye. I rock Ray Bans currently.

I love my 2 pairs of Oakley Minutes, one black and one silver. I spent a couple hundred dollars on each of em a few years ago and IMO they were worth every penny.

Look, obviously youmad.jpg over the suggestion you might have spent $140 more than you needed to on your sunglasses. Can't say I blame you. But some of us have actually already made it past the ripe old age of 30 without the aid of designer sunglasses, and my doctor says I'm gonna turn out just fine.

I'm not saying don't wear sunglasses. I'm saying don't buy expensive ones when cheap ones are just as good. But please, share with me another anecdotal story that proves that this is somehow incorrect. I'm on the edge of my seat.

If you actually believe Cheap sunglasses are just as good as certain expensive ones you are sadly mistaken. The level of protection, clarity and and depth perception can change as your price goes up. Polarized lenses can help reduce glare off both objects and water and can really aid in driving especially for someone who wears contacts. More expensive pairs are usually going to have scratch resistant lenses and will be much more durable. Sure you don't need $200 dollar sunglasses but there are very few cases where they aren't worth the price. With the damage you can do to your eyes by not wearing sunglasses with the proper protection (a lot of those cheap 20 dollar sunglasses don't have you covered for both types of UV light) or not wearing any sunglasses I'd rather just pony up the cash and know I'm protected. Macular degenration isn't fun.

yup, this. also, i admit to buying sunglasses cuz i want to look good. i own a pair of Nike Roll-E for sports and a pair of Oakley Nanowire 2.0 for normal wear. both cost me over 200 and i don't regret spending "$140 more than i needed to". i can tell the difference between these and $10 walmart sunglasses. i've owned them for over a year now and both have no scratches on them.

Or fail. Seriously. Just get the coolest looking ones within your budget. "Protects your retinas from evil sun-rays more than the next leading brand" is in my opinion which is my opinion which I am entitled to, definitely not a fact and just an opinion 95% marketing bullshish.

I second Oakley, bought these a little while ago and they are the ONLY sunglasses I have been 100% happy with (I've worn Rayban, Maui Jim, Spy, etc...)

But the important thing to remember is to buy what you like, otherwise it's a waste. If a pair of $200 ones is what you like/looks best on you, go for it. If a pair of $20 go for it. But like people have said, higher cost GENERALLY means higher quality. And buy a hardcase to store them in during travel, essential imo

I wear Costa del Mar's and would for sure recommend them. I have been very happy with my pair. For the record they are Brines with the Green Mirror lenses. (Roughly $200 or so, but for sure worth it imo)

The Oakley half jackets, which are probably one of their most popular styles, run about $130 for the cheapest baseline pair they have. The lenses aren't polarized, just standard black lens with a black frame. The Bolle's I have were $120 with modulator and polarized lenses. The guy at the sunglass hut said that the Oakley's with polarized lenses would have ran be well over $200. I'm all for paying for quality lenses, bt not when I can get a better quality for half he price.
