Yes, there are two people that I work with that talk abnormally loud. It's annoying and hard to concentrate, as I work with numbers and tedious detail shit all day.

Minor annoyances in life happen to everyone.
YEAH WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT?!
If you talk unnecessarily loud then you are an ogre and deserve zero respect or confidence in your level of intelligence.
My work is very loud, and it's usually hard to hear people talk from more than a few feet away. I would kill for a few mother fuckers who could speak in an audible voice. It's like seriously? We're both standing next to a huge motor, speak the fuck up.
I'm hearing impaired so people talk LOUD to me constantly. You have no idea how much it fucking pisses me off. Especially because when I'm wearing my hearing aids my hearing is better then most people. Thus they hurt my ears when they talk.
Also, some people tend to think all hearing impaired people talk loud but its quite the opposite with me. I talk very soft at times when I'm not wearing my aids because I worry about being loud.
Not so much loud ppl at work, just women that won't shut the fuck up. Jesus I would pay for some silence, even if it was just occasional...
Yes I went there on the gender, it is 100% fact in this particular workplace.
I made the brilliant choice to play music for about 5 years without any kind of hearing protection and now my hearing is shot so I naturally project a lot louder than I should, and also have a terribly annoying habit of "huh? what?" anytime someone says something to me. When I get on Xbox LIVE it's even worse because I guess I (for whatever reason) talk quieter on my headset at first until people on the other end tell me to speak up and then you can probably hear me from 3 apartments down <_<
I have this same issue. My hearing is 100% fine and I can hear that they are talking to me. For some reason though unless I am directly paying attention to someone and concentrating I just cannot understand talking. And it takes me a moment to register that words are being said so I end up asking people to repeat themselves a lot.
100% of black people.
All loud co-workers just want to be like this guy

Really though, I have one co-worker who just yells for no reason, we will all just be standing there talking, he will walk uo a just fucking scream "WOOOOO", like hardgay style.
There's this fat black guy who sounds like a barking chicken in my platoon. I want to cut his mouth off with a hand grenade. When he talks, everyone and their mother can hear him... he doesn't distance speak, he's just obnoxious and rude. Fucking typical.
Ever know someone that was a Close talker?

My dad talks awfully loud. It bugs me quite a bit. I'm a quiet person, and I value that, it's not cool when people scream in my fucking ear in a manner belonging more to a large crowd.
I suppose using a loud voice makes him feel right. Americans live in a Might Makes Right kind of society after all.
To be specific, I've only encountered unnecessarily loud whites at work. The black folks I've worked with are actually quiet compared to them.
The only time I speak louder is if a client asks me to because of the noise in the background. I know it sucks to work in a noisy call center where people try to talk over each other as the lines get busier.
I've noticed with international students at my university, talk in English at a normal level, then when they speak in their own language, it reaches Brian Blessed proportions! Especially Chinese students, I can hear them clearly across the room. xD
