I was in shock at the ending, jaw hanging. But in retrospect one thing bothered me..

One of the constant things people say about Rita is how annoying/what a bitch she is. I found it absolutely lazy that the writers/director/whatever of the show simply made her a walking obstacle to Dexter. Almost every episode was here comes Rita fucking up Dex's plans and not much else. She lost the part of her that we saw early on in the series which made her endearing. This episode could have had a much huger impact on the audience if we had more of an emotional investment in the character instead of saying, 'Bitch be dead!'

I don't like that this plot point arguably sets the next season up to have a lot of "child-raising" shit in it. I don't know about you guys but I don't WANT to see Dexter training Cody or Harrison or anything.

It's gonna be hard to 'splain what happened there too. People at the station (and Deb) have to be pretty god damn dumb not to see already that Dexter had something to do with Trinity, and saying he killed Rita sure as shit isn't gonna help.

I love this show to chopped-up pieces! It never fails to keep me in suspense. Dexter's always done a good job of keeping each season separate and plots tidy, but this finale tied up the season so well and the last few seconds sliced it to pieces again. Absolutely riveting.

Wow I think that was the best Season finale of a show I've ever seen. Dexter keeps getting better somehow, I don't understand how the Writers of Dexter can be so amazing yet every show on the main cable channels seems to be pure shit these days.

Aside from season 2 which didn't really have a Villain, all the other seasons had jawdropping finale's, this show is just too amazing.

Did John Lithgow kill Rita, or did she kill herself? I figure it's the first, because she was all happy 'n stuff before Dexter came home to find her dead.

How the devil could this occur though? I mean, did Trinity know where Dexter's house was in the suburbs, or..what? I was thrown off, because he was so pissed off when Dexter's old apartment was actually the apartment of someone else.

Either way, I didn't see it ending the way it did.

Yes, Trinity killed Rita. If I had to guess, I would say he ran his search again and went with result number two this time. It was mentioned earlier in the thread how Trinity had several hours unaccounted for throughout that entire day.

Was Trinity running because he was afraid the cops were going to find him out? If so, why would he run in a car registered under his own name? Was he just running cause he had planned to kill Rita and knew Dexter would go after him?
