Yes, Trinity killed Rita. If I had to guess, I would say he ran his search again and went with result number two this time. It was mentioned earlier in the thread how Trinity had several hours unaccounted for throughout that entire day.

The lighting in that last scene led me to believe it was a dream sequence, but eh. Nip/Tuck did something similar where they 'killed' off both of the main characters at the end of the season, then it was revealed to be one of their dreams at the start of the next. I don't think they'd do that with Dexter, but I'm retarded.

Damn! o_O What a way to end the series! I wonder if they'll do a Desperate Housewives and set the next series 5+ years in the future and introduce Harrison's 'Dark Passenger' and have Dexter teaching him 'The Code' >_> I hope not, but wow this is gonna shake things up next season.

*Edit* Surely next season someone will have to remember seeing Arthur at the police station talking to Dexter. They know who he is now after sending the swat team to his house. Love to see how Dexter is going to explain his way out of this! It's gonna be like S2 again, I loved that season! <3

I don't think anyone is going to suspect dexter of anything in this case. When trinity walked into the station and batista walked by he made it a point to ask if trinity was in the wrong place as if he didn't know him. There's nothing else for them to connect dex with trinity.

From the way they were setting things up prior to the end, It seems like Dexter wants to change and get rid of his dark passenger. I'm guessing that next season Dexter is going to come down hard on himself and blame his dark passenger for Rita's death, and that's going to be the driving force that causes him to try to change his ways.

Yeah, I got the feeling that it felt like a dream, and Dexter was just dreaming an "oh shitttttt" like when he saw his family being taken away instead of trinity's, and I just kept saying to myself, please let it be a dream, please let it be a dream, all the way to the end, then I realized, fuck, it wasn't a dream and it ended, and I QQ'd

Wow for those that didn't like the ending the alternative was much much worse. I would've been so angry if they ended the season in that lazy ass way.

Also interesting that they waited pretty long to decide whether to kill her. Man the people who write this series are in for tremendous pressure for next season.

Sorry can't bring myself to spoil this even though it's already happened. Might have been answered but when did Trinity have time to kill Rita? I'm so confused on the series of events after Rita left for the Keys. I thought she killed herself until the interview thingy after the show.

I'd have to rewatch the ep because I wasn't really thinking about anything like that during the ep and the ending just kinda shocked me and a lot of the other events and when exactly they happened all kinda got jumbled together due to that!

Anyway, gonna rewatch when I get off work.
