If they do go that route with the kids, it would probably be more implied than actually shown, as far as them doing anything. Like in book 3 when they find the cat and are about to "play" with it, but Rita eventually found them before anything happened.

I did too, I just hope it's kept to the books. I can't remember any time in the books explaining that Dexter saw his mother chopped up like in the series, so hopefully it's just the difference between why Dexter is the way he is in the books and in the show. I just don't think something paranormal would translate well into what the writer's of the show have made for us, especially if it's introduced in the fifth season.

It would ruin the series for me as well. I enjoy Dexter so much because it is slightly reality based. The Harry moments that Dexter has adds a lot of depth and complexity to the character of Dexter which is nice.

Please don't have Rita moments now. That would blow.

The writers are too good to resort to that.

Regardless I think that this season will be their biggest test. They need to have Dexter being a single father be believable and still compelling and somehow still manage his urges in it all. If they screw up this season and the ratings plummet, than maybe I could see them bringing in that sci-fi garbage to try and salvage something out of the show; even than though I find it unlikely.

I think that something to do with a funeral like he imagines her talking while he says goodbye or some shit. I know they said she's not coming back as a ghost, but a recording or message seems a little weird since she didn't know she was going to die or that anything was wrong, unless Trinity made it record it before he killed her.

Yeah, old comment and unrelated to Dexter, but I just really, really hate it when people complaining about "supernatural/theological" stuff in BSG. Were these guys paying attention to what was going on in the show at all? BSG had a religious aspect to it from pretty much episode 1, anyone who failed to see that is an idiot.
