People parking on a public street to talk about private matters?! HOW GODDAMN DARE THEY!!!!
15 people parking in a residential neighborhood every week is a problem -- and against regulations.

15 cars is a lot to be parking on a street..
If they're local and paying taxes it shouldn't be a problem or against regulations.
Get a driveway/garage if you're residential and sick of parking half a block away from your house or deal with the fact that you park along a street and have no rights to your parking spot in front of your house.
15 people never equals 15 cars - especially for a religious get together
Is it seriously legal to disallow people to park in a public neighborhood? What if house A and house B both have 7 people over, or House A-E having 3 people over each. Is this not allowed?
They don't have to put up with the noise...and if the noise is a problem that's what a noise vioation is for. The homeowner gets fined for noise violations (trust me, I've had my share in college). As for traffic...it's a road. You don't have the right to not have people park or drive on a public street no matter how rural or townie you are. It's a public road. We're all paying for it if it's local (and even if we're not local to an extent).
It's not a business, it's a private gathering. Zoning laws should not be applicable.
Not all churches have their own buildings. The church my parents go to holds its services in the gym of a private school. The public high school I went to rented its auditorium to a church on Sundays.
If parking/traffic were the only issues, why would the county bother to determine that it was a religious event?
If they were only violating numbers 9 and 10 of this: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/dplu/docs/ZC022.pdf
I doubt they would have gotten a letter that said:
Would a non-religious weekly social gathering with 15 participants be treated the same way? If so, then yeah, these people are just trying to get attention. If not, there's a problem.Broyles said a few days later the couple received a written warning that listed "unlawful use of land" and told them to "stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit" -- a process that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.
I think this sums it up a bit better, lol @ persecution complex
KGTV 10News in San Diego:
A Pastor has been holding weekly Bible study meetings at his complex. Around 15 people show up and take up other tenants parking spaces. Last week one of the Bible study people hit a tenant's car and the tenants filed a complaint. When the police came out, the Pastor told them he has these meetings weekly. The 'case' is going to the County Commissioners who will ultimately decide if a permit is required or not.

OBVIOUSLY! The quote was taken out of context. It's pretty clear here (I think I've said this about 10 times now.) that they were in violation and the letter was CLEARLY just pointing out the source of the problem and to stop doing it. If they were throwing a homosexual anal sex ring I'm sure it would have said the same thing.
If it's in a private parking area then tag all the cars with tickets/toes. If someone hits a car then try to match up the scratches and get them with a hit and run. If not what can you do? Ban all visitors from parking near their friends houses based on the chance of a hit and run? True story...Someone burshed against my friends car when he was parked along my street a few weeks ago. The clear solution here is to ban everyone from driving on my road.
If it's a private parking area where tenants have assigned parking spots then deal with it accordingly. If it's a public area then boo hoo park down the street because you don't own the area in front of your house.
Greg, what do you not understand?9. The required residential off-street parking shall be maintained.
10. A home occupation shall not create vehicular or pedestrian traffic in excess of that which is normal for the zone in which it is located.
There's a reason councilpersons and lawyers and city planners sit down and write zone codes.
You're bitching about shit you have a laymens perspective of. The factor isn't if you don't like X, Y, or Z gtfo. Stop sounding like an ignorant shit because you want to be outraged by a half-ass FOX News article and let the people who are paid to write and enforce the code do their job.
see this is what I have a problem with. As readers, we are supposed to read the story here before we form any opinion either way. When we form it, we can't make logical leaps like "obviously" or "it's pretty clear" because it goes against the information we were given. Just because you might end up being right doesn't mean that's how you assess wrong in a situation. There's a reason people don't go to jail over "well I have a haunch I can't trust you."
edit: not to mention the opinions here were CLEARLY formed before the research of what the "permits" and such entailed
The probelm is that the letter points out a private gathering of local people who are paying taxes to take care of those roads and have every right to park along whatever street in whatever area they want to. Church gathering, homosexual sodomy ring, anime convention, monday night football spot, whatever. Zoning laws should not apply.
