I just got a new laptop for my birthday (HP with Vista). When i set up my internet connection, which is crappy dial up, the modem dials and issues a connection to my provider, but no programs can reach a connection to the web. I do not receive any errors from the modem or during the connection and it says im connected, but when you open a browser it cannot establish connection to internet? Do i need to return the computer or is there something else im not thinking of to fix this? I have never had this problem before with other computer i've gotten or help other people set up.
