Ditto. I rarely see the crap they want me to. In the games that usually have a "Can't see, Dim, and Visible" section, I always settle it at the Visible one being barely visible, otherwise the game graphics are way too fucking bright at the point of making Dim visible.

It's like they were tested on CRTs only or something. LCD backlights really kill the range of black levels the screen can produce.

Yeah the demo seemed pretty dark for me as well.

I think the problem with video games isn't so much blacks, it's that things will move around in the dark or the screen will rapidly change from dark to light (which kills dynamic contrast). I had my PS2 on a 19" LG on my desk and with no way to turn off dynamic contrast I constantly found myself running into walls and dying.

Now my PS3 is on a relatively inexpensive LCD but one that stores individual profiles for each input, making customizing just for the PS3 pretty easy. I have yet to run into any problems with darkness but I usually turn off most of the lights to play anyway.

I need to find a hot man who will buy me a new plasma to replace the one in the living room if I sleep with him.

I didn't run into any darkness trouble when I played the demo, but I play on an older gateway 24"lcd and they are known for their insanely bright backlight. I would actually like to replace it with something that has all the same inputs but a gd remote. Bought to hook everything up, and didn't even think I might want a remote to change inputs when I'm watching tv in bed and want to play a game....

I had a HORRID day at work tonight. After I got out I was worn out and decided to head to the local Wal-Mart to see if they had any games on sale for me to sit back and relax. Started looking through their selection and what do you know, there lays a large stack of Heavy Rain games. I stood there for at least a minute staring at it, trying to make sure it was real. I have the next three days off and was upset because I know I work six days in a row after its release date.

I bit my lip though and thought it over. It doesn't matter how much joy the game would bring me, I didn't want the poor sap to get in trouble so I went to the electronics employee and told him. He didn't believe me at first and asked me what sites he needed to look up to find out the street date. After a few minutes I was about to say fuck it and buy the game but his boss walked by, asked what was going on and when he saw the game he knew the correct date and put them away.

Sitting here alone for the night, with nothing to play or watch...makes me wish I had a time machine.

As a fan of adventure games I truly enjoyed the demo. Now I know where to spend my 70$ RZ points.

It has a very good film noir atmosphere....which is a biiiiig big bonus for me.

EDIT: Also has one of the better uses of sixaxis/DS 3.

Ordered my copy today. For UK people, Play.com has it "In Stock" so i expect to receieve it a couple of days early at least. Can't wait! Farenheight (Indigo Prophecy) was one of my favourite PS2 games.

[Link removed]gives it an 8.5, says the only major flaw is a single, gaping plot hole that doesn't ruin the game. There are other little things like graphical glitches and pop in as well. The review definitely makes me want to play the game even more after reading about how it plays.

I learned with WKC, that Amazon isn't the way to go for preorders.

They kind of lost me with the demo since it bugged out and wouldn't let me leave the crime scene (I spent a good 20-30 minutes retracing all my my steps making sure I didn't miss anything ,and eventually humped up and down all of the police tape trying to get the notification to go under). I ended up just having to hard close the game at that point. Killed my enthusiasm.
